—Slayder talking to Lombard
Slayder is an enemy character from Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. He is a general of Dozel working under Duke Lombard.
Profile
Lombard sent Slayder to finish off Byron, who had barely escaped the destruction of Chalphy's Grünritter knight squadron, and prevent him from delivering the Tyrfing to Sigurd. If Slayder succeeds in his mission, Sigurd's son Seliph will have to repair the Tyrfing during Chapter 10.

Slayder exists primarily to pressure the player into rescuing Byron as quickly as possible. Beyond that, he is not the most menacing of bosses. He is on par with Voltz, a boss encountered all the way back in the first half of Chapter 2. There are many, many ways to dispose of him by this point in the game. If Sigurd and a promoted Lachesis are on the battlefront, Slayder's odds of even hitting one of the player's units will be very low,and his forces can be baited away with minimal effort because he tends to position himself at the very back of the pack. A well coordinated assault should be able to wipe out his force with little resistance.
That being said, Slayder's force possesses the ability to dish out significant amounts of damage with their many Steel Axes, when they actually do manage to land a hit. While the battle is heavily stacked against Slayder, there still is a nontrivial chance that his force could take out one of the player's units, so throwing caution to the wind won't always be an option against him.
