—Rennie, in a conversation with Mintz
Rennie is a playable character from TearRing Saga: Utna Heroes Saga. She is an archer from eastern Selba and a member of Lionheart's rebel army. She is captured by Kernel and then handed over to Pavlov, who tortures her for information about the location of Lionheart's base.
Profile
Rennie is introduced when she is being whipped by Pavlov in his private quarters. Because of her refusal to reveal any information, Pavlov orders Mintz to throw her into the dungeon. While she is in the dungeon, she falls asleep in Mintz's lap. When she wakes up, she initially reacts with shock, but thanks Mintz once he reveals that he has been looking out for her.
During Map 10, Rennie is summoned by Pavlov to be publicly burned at the stake. Her fate depends on the actions of the player. If the player does not interfere with Mintz's movements, allowing him to arrive at the castle in time to save her, she escapes and appears again in Map 17. If Runan seizes the castle before Mintz arrives, she is rescued and joins his army at the end of the chapter. However, if neither Runan or Mintz arrive in time, she will be executed.
Rennie's ending changes depending on who rescues Plum from slavery. If Holmes saved Plum, Rennie and Barts are revealed to be in love and decide to live in Salia with Lionheart's permission. If Barts rescued Plum instead, Rennie travels to Canaan along with Mintz and the Arless Black Knights. In this scenario, she confesses her love for Mintz, who rejects her for being too young. If Mintz is dead and Barts rescued Plum or is dead, she will go to Selba alone.

Rennie is a recruitable unit that join in Map 11, and she struggles to stand out in many ways. Her bases are low and her weapon level leaves her stuck with extremely lousy bows. She does however come with some very valuable traits: a solid skillset and a movement growth. This means that she can actually grow into a powerful unit if the player chooses to invest in her. However, she doesn't really have much time to gain EXP in Runan's route, so the player must send her to Holmes Route to be trained in the skirmish maps.
Another issue is that even if the player were to slow down and train her up, there are only a handful of chapters where she can meaningfully contribute. Runan's Route tends to be dominated by strong Cavalry units like Narron, Mintz and Raphael, as well as fliers like Sasha, Martel and Raffin. The only map where she can truly do something substantial is Map 37, where she can help against the Monster enemies if she has been taught Slayer. Even then, she is likely outclassed by other units like Raquel, who has better bases and learns Slayer naturally.
Holmes Route has similar problems, as the 2nd Route Split has Sherra joining the team, and trivializing most of the maps through Rewarp. Then near the end of the 2nd Route Split, Renee and Yoda join, which only further accelerate the pace of Holmes maps. Even when fully trained, Rennie isn't doing much that can't be replicated by better overall units.
Overall, Rennie is a rather unfortunate unit that can be fun to use, but is ultimately not worth trying to make work in a more serious playthrough.
