Evans

Evans Preseizure

Evans is a location in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. As the northernmost city in Verdane, it serves as a border watch over the Yngvi territory of Grannvale and the Nordion territory of Agustria. It is a fortress city, holding a defensive position at the most strategic point of access to Agustria, as it is located south of a formidable mountain range. During the prologue of Sigurd's campaign, he captures Evans, hoping to rescue the lady Edain, heir to Yngvi. From then on he uses it as a base of operations while he battles with Verdane and Agustria in chapters 1 and 2 respectively.

In Grann 757, Evans bows before the military might of Prince Munnir from the city of Marpha to the south. Munnir is able to use the castle to stage an assault on Yngvi. When he kidnaps Edain, he passes through Evans, but does not linger, as Sigurd follows close behind. Once Sigurd seizes Yngvi castle from Verdanite control, reinforcements appear from Evans to stop his advance. The axe-wielding Gerrard commands these forces, though he ultimately falls to Sigurd's knights. When Edain is not found within Evans Castle, Sigurd's army holds it as a defensive position and marches for the southwestern city of Genoa.

Once Sigurd defeats Munnir and gains control of Verdane, Lord Filat of Belhalla commands him to preside over Evans Castle on the order of King Azmur. It is here that Sigurd and Deirdre are married. Hearing of the Grannvalian assault on Verdane, Agustria sends military forces to Evans to subdue the perceived threat to their sovereignty. Sigurd must hold the castle against the Heirheim army. Once he defeats them, he is able to move his base of operations from Evans to Agusti in Grann 758. Though it is unknown who lives in the castle at this point, Evans remains loyal to Belhalla.
