Michael (マイクル Maikuru?) is a resident of Granbell. He was a good friend of Shiki and had been with him ever since he was very young.[1][2]
Appearance
Michael is a short machine with a very simple design. His head is maroon, large and ovular in shape; he has no visible eyes but two sunken holes in their place, and he has thin, rod-like neck and limbs. He wears a pointed hat and a green cloak with golden stripes and covers his hands with white fabric gloves.[2]
Personality
Michael is a very calm and kind guy who always has a smile on his face. Like his fellow machines in Granbell Kingdom, he is a good actor as he fooled Shiki, Rebecca and Happy into believing they have gone hostile towards them and made them leave the planet just as planned.
Synopsis
History
Michael was built along with many other machines for the Granbell Kingdom back when it had many visitors. After the park was abandoned a century ago, he and the rest of the machines were left to fend for themselves. About ten years before all the Granbell machines ceased to function, Ziggy discovered an orphaned boy named Shiki, Michael and the others looked after the boy who in turn looked after their repairs.[3] When Ziggy's body broke down and he ceased to function, he left Shiki to be looked after by Michael and the other Granbell machines. And he requested that Michael and the other machines make Shiki leave them behind as he knew he would be all alone once their batteries died.[4]
Intro arc
Michael is one of the three machines that Shiki introduces to Rebecca and Happy. After the introductions are finished, Michael, along with everyone else, throws a party to celebrate the first visitor in Granbell in 100 years. When Shiki falls asleep, Michael explains to Rebecca exactly why Shiki is living on Granbell before escorting her to bed.[5] The next morning, Michael, along with the other machines, ties up Rebecca and attacks Shiki before Shiki attacks back to save Rebecca.[6] Michael and the other machines then pursue Shiki, Rebecca, and Happy as they flee, but they manage to escape.[7] Once they are gone, Michael and the other machines, who have only attacked Shiki as a ruse in order to make him leave before he ended up alone, all cease to function.[4]
