Majin

The Majin is a recurring humanoid class in the Disgaea series first introduced in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness.

Appearance

The Majin appears drastically different in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness and its ports, including Disgaea 1 Complete, compared to their appearance in Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories and Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice.

The Majin in Disgaea 2 and Disgaea 3 has a similar hair style to Overlord Zetta.

Characteristics

One cannot become a Majin, one must be born as such. Majins possess a strong body, fearful strength, and a ruthless mind. These formidable warriors enjoy a good fight more than anything, believing that the weak have no right to live. The Dark Assembly considers them a rare resource and doesn't send them out often.

Gameplay

They are powerful units in battle, and are arguably the most powerful class in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. However, their effectiveness is decreased in Disgaea 2 and Disgaea 3 due to reduced movement abilities in Disgaea 2 and bad aptitudes in Disgaea 3.

Appearances

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness

Main article: Majin (Disgaea)

In Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, the Majin is unlocked by having a Male Warrior, Martial Artist, Ninja, Thief, and Strider all at level 200. The Majin is able to master all weapons and has some of the highest aptitudes and stat gains in the game, making them powerful units. The final tier, the Divine Majin, is the first class that has a base movement rate of seven tiles in the series.

Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories

Main article: Majin (Disgaea 2)

In Disgaea 2, the Majin becomes unlocked after completing the game, starting a new cycle, and passing the bill "Make the Ultimate Warrior". Much like their Disgaea counterparts, they have the ability to master all weapons and have high aptitudes, but their movement and throwing have been severely reduced to three and one, respectively. They have a passive ability that doubles their stats if they are the only unit left alive on the field.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice

Main article: Majin (Disgaea 3)

In Disgaea 3, the Majin, unlocked in the same manner as in Disgaea 2, has been severely reduced in effectiveness, having no ability to master weapons and subpar aptitudes. They retain the One Man Army Evility effect from Disgaea 2 and can learn Revival, which completely restores HP if it is under 25%; Vortex, which reduces their already low Aptitudes to 10% but doubles their base stats; and Violence, which increases stats by 50% but reduces EXP gain by 50%.
