Clergy

Priest DD2

The Clergy (also known as Priest and Male Healer) is a recurring humanoid class in the Disgaea series first introduced in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness.

Profile

Appearance

The Clergies have have received several redesigns over the years. Consistently, they are androgynous males, wearing a full body robe and chained cuffs on their wrists. Like their female counterparts, the Clerics, their eyes are closed. As the Male Healer in D1, they resemble the Clerics, but with short hair and a shorter height. In D3, the Clergies are taller and handsome. Their skin is shady, and their hair is longer. Following DD2, the Clergies are now completely effeminate. They wear their hair in pigtails adorned with flowery ribbons, and their eyes are hidden behind their bangs. This design has become a mainstay for this class.

Personality

In contrast to the serene and mature Clerics, the Clergies, as of DD2, are cheerful and bubbly. They are always friendly to friend and foe alike.

Characteristics

Despite being demons, they have no ill will towards humans or Celestia and do not like to fight. Unlike their female counterparts, they believe healing those wounded in battle is a sin, so their beliefs require them to wear handcuffs and barbed robes as self-punishment. It is said that they knew about magic before science proved its existence.

They have a great interest in learning and often visit the Nether Central Lie-brary. Some of the male healers dress up in a more feminine style, but they get miffed when they get mistaken for females as a result.
