Infernal

[Source]

Infernal is an Expert Map in Bloons TD 6 that was added on Version 15.0, on January 23rd 2020.

Overview

Infernal takes place in what looks like a volcano, as what seems like 4 rock pillars that have fallen down as its entrances and exits, a floating path made out of rocks for the bloons, 6 floating islands, 4 of which are for land towers and the rest for water towers, and two small pieces of land on the right and left side that can allow a Heli Pilot or a Banana Farm.

On every odd round, Bloons enter from the left of the upper lane and proceed to follow the path towards the top-right exit. On every even round, however, Bloons enter from the left of the lower lane and proceed to follow the path towards the bottom-right exit. The main difficulty of this map comes from the lack of space that can be placed for towers, but because of the somewhat long path that this map has and it having only two paths and the pattern where bloons come out being quite simple, it is more on the easy side for an expert map.

Strategy

Summary

Snipers and any aircraft such as the Heli Pilot or Monkey Ace would be very useful, considering the track is far from any placeable locations, because the Sniper can shoot anywhere and the Heli and Ace can fly. The lack of space to place monkeys makes this map particularly hard, however, due to the relatively long track, Snipers and Aces tend to fend off the Bloons quite efficiently for an Expert map. Each pool of water has enough space for up to three water towers. The lateral islands can comfortably fit a Village with a Heli inside, but not a Village and Farm at the same time.

Tips

  • Apache Prime is incredibly useful on Infernal because of the small amount of space available and the fact that only one path is active at a time. It is easily possible to fit it with an Alchemist and Village on the left island.
  • Quincy is almost necessary to beat C.H.I.M.P.S. on this track due to Round 7 being almost impossible without him.
  • Besides a Quincy start, a 0-0-0 Dart Monkey + 0-0-0 Sniper Monkey can beat the first few rounds, allowing more expensive Heroes such as Obyn Greenfoot or Etienne to be used instead of Quincy.
  • A 0-1-1 Boomerang Monkey could be used at the top of the bottom platform to be upgraded into a 0-2-2 which will be able to solo every single round up to round 14 with minimal micro, which should be enough to afford most heroes or additional towers.
  • Elite Sniper is an incredibly space-efficient tower for completing this map on harder difficulties, including providing additional income to make modes other than CHIMPS much easier to complete.
  • It is barely possible to fit two Villages, a Spike Factory, and an Alchemist on the right island. Because of this, a combination of a Perma-Spike plus two Monkey Commerce Villages plus a Stronger Stimulant Alchemist will be able to beat this map easily.
  • It might be worth adding in a 0-4-2 Spike Storm rather than a 2-4-0 Spike Storm for countering the BAD layer. Bear in mind that 2-4-0 Spike Storm is not as effective on this map due to wasting spikes on both lanes.
  • Outside of C.H.I.M.P.S., if the player wants to have additional income, Pontoons can be placed on both small lakes, allowing for two extra platforms large enough for Banana Farms.
  • In order to fit three Monkey Buccaneers in the pools, the first must be placed in the top left corner of the bottom pool, or conversely, in the bottom right corner of the top pool.

Version history

Initially, Infernal was only possible to complete on CHIMPS by starting with Quincy. Version 20.0 adjusted the map's terrain slightly to allow other Heroes to be used as a starting tower, though the more significant change in this update was a buff to the base Sniper Monkey, opening up more CHIMPS strategies without a starting Hero at all.

Trivia

  • This is the fifth Expert Map to be added in BTD6.
  • Since its release, some content creators of BTD6 had been arguing if this is the new easiest map on Expert Difficulty, because of the simplicity of the path. However, it is still considered harder than Dark Castle by many players.
  • Sometimes, a dragon will fly across the track.
  • Despite being a fire-based map, it has water.
    • This was likely done to make C.H.I.M.P.S. on this track easier.
