Ben must go alien to save the Hoover Dam from disaster, but when tough guy hero Tim Buktu swoops in to "help", Ben must figure out if Tim is friend... or foe.[ATV 1]
Plot
The episode starts off with Ben catching a fish. He is congratulated by one of the fishermen. He is given a medal. Gwen shows up with a big trophy. Ben is sad that he never gets congratulated for the cool hero stuff he does. He pictures a monument of him. Max states that monuments are for great people from history, and reminds him that he uses his powers for good, and not for the glory.
They soon hear people screaming. Ben and Gwen runs over to where the screaming is coming from, and realizes that a boat is on fire. Ben attempts to transform into Overflow, however he gets Cannonbolt. He uses Cannonbolt, and jumps into the water, putting out the fire on the boat. Soon a self-proclaimed hero arrived, Tim Buktu. Tim mistakes Ben for a villain. Cannonbolt claims that he isn't a villain. Tim questions why the boat was on fire. Cannonbolt replies saying he doesn't start fires. Tim reacts by firing his blow darts at Cannonbolt, which the latter used his shell to deflect it. Tim flies away, but Cannonbolt chases after him. Cannonbolt then tackles Tim, and times out.
The two introduce themselves to each other. Tim asks Ben to stay out of his way, but then they begin arguing. Gwen breaks the fight up, telling them that they're both heroes. Tim doubts that Ben is a hero. Gwen tells them to shake on it. Tim admits that in all of his travels he hasn't met anyone with Ben's powers, and is almost impressed. Ben admits that his tools, and pouches are pretty cool. Gwen is annoyed by the two, but Max tells her to sit back and enjoy the show.
The two have a competition, each having challenges that one or the other passes. The two are tired from the competing. Ben admits that Tim has skill, but states that he has half of a summer experience. Ben also states that time will tell who out-heroes who. Tim agrees, and predicts that the time is now, and suddenly an explosion happens. Tim flies off, stealing Ben's catchphrase, which angers Ben. He throws a sticky vial at Ben, and Ben is stuck standing there while Tim flies off and "saves the day." Max and Gwen runs over to Ben, and tries to free him. They both get stuck as well. Ben transforms into XLR8, happy about finally getting the right alien. He runs off, leaving max and Gwen.
XLR8 arrives at the scene, and realizes that Tim is actually doing a good job saving the day. Tim makes a put, and laughs crazily. XLR8 admits that he might be a real hero after all. A worker comes from underground and compliments Tim Buktu for saving the dam, ignoring XLR8's presence. The crowd fascinates over Tim. Gwen and Max arrives, and tells him that something is fishy. Max explains that after Ben went off to chase after Tim, he and Gwen investigated. They found out that there was a vial at the boat that caught on fire earlier, and the one Tim threw at them were the exact same vial. They soon find out the truth behind Tim. Max bets he isn't done yet. Ben transforms into Diamondhead. he arrives at the scene. Tim claims that Ben is a super-villain.
Diamondhead shows them the vials. Diamondhead exposes Tim. Tim explains he just wanted to be a hero. Diamondhead threatens to take him to jail. Tim throws another vial at Ben. It was acid, and it lands on the dam. Tim claims he can fix it. then the crack in the dam gets bigger. Tim begins to run away. Tim falls, but uses his wings. The rocks from the destroyed dam damages his wings. Diamondhead jumps into the water after him, however sinks to the bottom due to him being too heavy.
Tim gets out of the water and runs away. However, Diamondhead uses his powers to propel Tim into the air, catching him. Diamondhead tells Tim that there's no more playing hero, and it's for real this time. Diamondhead demands Tim to throw tar bombs at the broken dam. Tim throws his tar bombs, and Diamondhead uses his crystals to stop the water from flowing. Tim still tries to say that he saved the day, but Diamondhead denies it. The cops arrive and takes Tim. Tim states that next time they meet, it will be villain time.
Back at the fishing site, Max compliments Ben. A guy walks up and gives Gwen a big trophy, for fishing. Max question's if Ben is okay, after seeing Gwen get a very big reward. Ben says that's he's okay, and that he's seen the ugly side of pride. Gwen states that Ben must not want his award. Ben gets excited after hearing that he has a reward, and is given a small trophy, of himself. Ben then gives a speech on how much he deserved the award.
Ben: Uh, mine's nothing compared to that. I want some bling, too. Why doesn't anyone bling me for the cool hero stuff I do? Like a monument in my honor! Max: Monuments are only bestowed on the greatest figures in history, Ben, like Mount Rushmore. Ben: Mount Tennyson. Like mount Rushmore but with 10 of me! Gwen: One big head for you is plenty. Max: But, of course, you use your powers to do good, not for the glory...right? (People Screaming) Max: Like right now.

Tim: Alright kid. My curiosity is stoked. You're a boy who changes into what, exactly? Ben: Ben's the name, turning alien is my game.

Gwen: Boys, boys, you're both heroes, all right? Tim: This imposter, a hero?! Oh, nice try. Ben: You're face is a nice try! Gwen: Guys, if you're both heroes, then shake on it. Shake...on...it! Tim: To be fair, in all of my travels, I've never met someone with your powers before. I'm almost impressed. Ben: And your pouches of weird stuff are cool, I guess. Tim: You really mean that? Ben: Yeah, sure. Maybe you could even be my sidekick. Tim: The only side I'll be kicking is yours. Gwen: Dude, seriously? Max: Gwen, just sit back and enjoy the show. It's a hero thing. Ben: Think you can bark with the big dogs? Show me what you got, Tim Buck-zero!

Ben: Look, you got skills, Tim, but I have half a summer of experience! Tim: Oh, yeah? Well, I've clawed through jungles all my life, collecting artifacts and vials to become a hero. Ben: Play hero all you want, but time will tell who out-heroes who! Tim: Oh, what a coincidence. That time is now! (Explosion) Tim: How weird is that? Ben: It's hero time! Tim: Yeah, it's hero time! Ciao! Ben: Oh, you do not steal another dude's catchphrase. Not cool! Tim: Have fun getting out of my Tasmanian tar pit! Max: That's not very heroic. Gwen: Hang on, Ben! Max: Oh, darn. We're stuck, too. Ben: I got this. 'Cause there's no need to wait when I've got XLR8! (Hits watch) XLR8: Finally got the right alien!

Worker: You just saved the dam! Who are you, brave soul? XLR8: -I'm XLR- Tim: -I have many names. Guardian! Protector! But you, citizen, can call me Tim Buktu!

Gwen: Something's fishy, Ben! If Tim's tar-and-feather shenanigans weren't enough, now there's this! Max: When you ran off after Tim, we launched a little investigation of our own. Ben: Investigation? Max: We noticed the vial Tim's tar bomb left and decided to check out the scenes of the other accidents. There's only one other accident -- the boat fire. It took some digging, but it was just as we expected. Gwen: They're the exact same vials, Ben! And I'll bet you anything there's another one up there at the explosion site!
'Ben: (Gasps). A hero that creates his own disasters? Gwen: Great way to play the hero without any risk! Except to everyone else! Max: If I was a betting man, I'd wager he's not done yet.

Diamondhead: No more playing hero, It's for real this time, got it? Tim: (nods). Diamondhead: It's hero time, Tim! Tim: Wh-What am I supposed to - Diamondhead: Tar bombs! Tim: No! Aah! Diamondhead: Now! keep going! I have a plan! (Throws Tim). Tim: (Screams). Don't drop me! Don't drop me! Diamondhead: I got ya.

Tim: A childish insult! Everyone knows I was the one who saved the day! Diamondhead: Yeah, sure, After you wrecked it in the first place. (Authorities arrives). Tim: When we meet again, Ben, it's villain time. Diamondhead: And now you have you own catchphrase. You're welcome!
