Rekoil is the one hundred and sixty-fifth episode of Ben 10.

Synopsis

As Team Tennyson fights to stop Dr. Animo from raiding an animal shelter, Ben faces one villain more than he bargained for: King Koil, now Animo's pet.^{[ATV 1]}

Plot

The Rustbucket drives down the road at night as it nears an unsuspecting pigeon. Ben, in the passenger seat, immediately awakens and orders Max to stop the vehicle. Max manages to come to a halt right before they hit the pigeon, and Ben runs outside to check on the bird as Gwen wakes up. He believes it to be a dove, and imagines it flying next to him as Jetray and Cybearg. Gwen corrects him on the species, and Max tries to shoo it off the road, only for them to find out it cannot fly. Ben pleads to take care of the pigeon, and Max complies.

Not long after, the Rustbucket is a mess, thanks to the newly-named Cybird. Gwen and Max explain that they aren't equipped to take care of Cybird, but someone else can, as they pull into an animal shelter named Friends Fur You. Inside, the clerk calls for Dr. Karen, who takes Cybird, promising to help him. In the meantime, the clerk shows the trio the various animals, only for them to come across Dr. Animo in the doorway. He smashes open the entrance, conspiring to steal the animals for his experiments. Ben transforms into Cannonbolt, and easily takes him down. However, Dr. Animo reveals he has assistance this time, and suddenly, King Koil bursts from the ground, sporting one of Dr. Animo's mind-control collars. Cannonbolt fights Kinf Koil, eventually finding himself in a bind before timing out, allowing Ben to escape his grasp.

Frustrated at his incompetence, Dr. Animo strengthens his mind-control collar, and he leaves to grabs some animals. Gwen manages to rescue some cats from his satchel, and he gives chase to her. Max starts to free the animals from their cages, only to come across a massive pig. Dr. Karen, meanwhile, finishes wrapping Cybird's wing in a cast. She overhears the commotion, while King Koil searches out Ben. The Omnitrix finally times back in, and he transforms into XLR8. King Koil manages to break free of the mind-control, but the collar strengthens, turning him on XLR8 once more. Gwen then arrives on the scene, with Dr. Animo in hot pursuit. XLR8 nabs Gwen, and the villains accidentally collide into each other. Max, meanwhile, struggles to remove the pig from its cage due to how fat it is.

XLR8 rushes at King Koil and Dr. Animo, only to time out once again. Dr. Animo commands King Koil to attack Ben, but he resists his orders. Dr. Animo finally regains control, only for Max to show up, riding the oversized pig. Max reveals it was just a distraction, however, as the Omnitrix times back in. Ben transforms into Omni-Kix Heatblast. Dr. Animo rushes towards him, but is blasted back by his fire, and promptly crushed under the weight of the pig. King Koil, however, is still on the attack. Gwen theorizes that if he's powered up from Omni-Kix Heatblast's heat, he can break free from Dr. Animo's control. Omni-Kix Heatblast fires at him, and Gwen's plan works, freeing King Koil. He times out, and King Koil prepares to attack him, but Gwen reminds him that it was Dr. Animo that was controlling him. The pig removes itself from Dr. Animo, leaving him to King Koil, who chases him out of the building. Dr. Karen returns with Cybird, and Ben welcomes him to the team, only for the pigeon to fly away.
