Sabotage

Sabotage is an ability in Among Us, exclusive to Impostors, including impostor ghosts.

Usage in Classic Mode

Impostors can enact Sabotages, which create temporary problems that Crewmates can either ignore or fix. The Sabotage button will show a red map where different Sabotages can be triggered. Impostors can also fix sabotages.

Once the map is opened, The Impostor can choose a Sabotage option they would like to activate by clicking or tapping the desired Sabotage button. On the Nintendo Switch edition, the stick is used to navigate the interface, and is used to trigger a Sabotage.

Almost all Sabotages will disable the emergency button. However, players can still report dead bodies to call an emergency meeting, which will automatically resolve Critical Sabotages (Oxygen Depleted, Reactor Meltdown, Reset Seismic Stabilizers, and Avert Crash Course).

Ghosts cannot fix Sabotages.

Critical Sabotages

All Critical Sabotages have a dedicated countdown the crewmates must fix before it reaches zero, otherwise all Crewmates will die and the Impostors will win. However, Crewmates' Abilities or mechanics will not be affected in any way.

Oxygen Depleted

Main article: Oxygen Depleted

Oxygen Depleted will cause all of the oxygen to deplete slowly, until there is no longer oxygen in the air.

To resolve this Sabotage, players must enter the correct code into two PIN pads in two different locations. The code is shown on a sticky note attached to the PIN pad. Both sticky notes will show the same code.

On The Skeld, the two PIN pads are located in O2 and Admin. Both must be resolved within 30 seconds.

On MIRA HQ, the two PIN pads are located at the Greenhouse and in the middle of the south-west hallway near MedBay. Both must be resolved within 45 seconds.

Reactor Meltdown

Main article: Reactor Meltdown

Reactor Meltdown will cause a meltdown of the Reactor, destroying the map. It must be resolved in 30 seconds on The Skeld, 45 seconds on MIRA HQ, and 60 seconds on The Fungle.

To resolve this Sabotage, two players must place their hands on two separate handprint scanners in Reactor simultaneously.

Reset Seismic Stabilizers

Reset Seismic Stabilizers is the counterpart of Reactor Meltdown in Polus and it must be resolved within 60 seconds.

To resolve this Sabotage, two players must go to different Seismic Stabilizers located on opposite sides of Dropship and place their hands on the handprint scanners simultaneously.

Avert Crash Course

Main article: Avert Crash Course

Avert Crash Course is the counterpart of Oxygen Depleted and Comms Sabotaged (PIN keypad) with some modifications on The Airship as it will cause a helicopter to crash into the ship.

To resolve this Sabotage, two players must enter the code from the sticky pad onto the PIN pads on either side of the Gap Room. The code will reset when it reaches the green bar the second time, which invalidates the previous code and initiates a new code to be entered. Therefore, it needs to be entered in each PIN pad before it resets. The Sabotage must be resolved within 90 seconds.

Non-critical Sabotages

All non-critical sabotages will disable at least one of the Crewmates' abilities and mechanics. Impostors, however, will not share the same disabilities.

Comms Sabotaged

Main article: Comms Sabotaged

Comms Sabotaged will prevent Crewmates from viewing their task list and make the list only display "Comms Sabotaged." It will also remove segments and progress indications from the task bar (Only the disabilities of the task bar also affects impostors). Many other abilities on the map, such as Camera and Admin, will display the text "[COMMS SABOTAGED]" if anyone attempts to use them during this sabotage, including Impostors.

Tasks can still be completed, but alerts to complete a task will not appear on the personal map.

When this sabotage is active, Engineer, Scientist and Guardian Angels' special abilities will not be usable.

To resolve this Sabotage on The Skeld, Polus, and The Airship, players must adjust the dial to match two wavelengths on a monitor in Communications, for The Skeld and The Airship, and Outside for Polus.

To resolve it on MIRA HQ and The Fungle, two people must enter a code into two PIN pads with the code shown on a sticky note attached to the PIN pad, in similar way to resolving Avert Crash Course on the Airship.

On MIRA HQ, the PIN pads are located at Office and Communications.

On The Fungle, the PIN pads are located at Communications and Lookout.

Fix Lights

Main article: Fix Lights

Fix Lights will drastically reduce the vision for living Crewmates, greatly hindering their ability to see their surroundings.

To resolve this Sabotage, players must flip all the switches on a circuit breaker in Electrical on The Skeld and Polus, Office on MIRA HQ or Gap Room, Viewing Deck or Cargo Bay on The Airship. The panel is shared by everyone.

Main article: Mushroom Mixup

Mushroom Mixup

Mushroom Mixup is the counterpart of Fix Lights sabotage with some modifications on The Fungle. It will cover all living players in purple fume-like clouds for a few seconds, during the beginning and the end of the sabotage, and players will reappear with random cosmetics, a random color, and their username hidden (the latter for Crewmates only). However, Impostors and ghosts will still be able to view everyone's usernames during the sabotage.

There is no way to resolve this sabotage, and it lasts for 10 seconds. Unlike all other non-Door Sabotages, Emergency meetings can still be called during this crisis.

Door Sabotage

Main article: Door Sabotage

Door Sabotage on The Skeld closes all the doors leading to a chosen location for 10 seconds, locking players in or out. Sabotaging a door will only disable non-Door Sabotages until the door is open again, meaning multiple or even all doors on the map can be closed. Using a different type of Sabotage will disable all Door Sabotage Sabotages until the Sabotage is fixed. Door Sabotage's cooldown starts when the Sabotage starts, while non-Door Sabotages' cooldowns start when they are fixed. Door and non-Door Sabotages are mutually exclusive on the Skeld; if a Door Sabotage is activated, all non-Door sabotages will be disabled until every door is open again, and vice versa.

Sabotaged doors on Polus, The Airship, and The Fungle need to be reopened manually. To open the door, players must reset four switches on an eight-switch circuit breaker on Polus, swipe a card on The Airship, and poof six mushrooms as they appear on The Fungle. Moreover, Door Sabotage and other Sabotages are partially independent; doors can be Sabotaged before other Sabotages, but cannot be Sabotaged during other Sabotages.

Usage in Hide & Seek

  • During Hide n Seek, the Impostor will have the Sabotage action replaced by the Seek button. They will not be able to call Sabotages.
  • The Sabotage icon is reused for the Seek Ability.
  • Similar to during critical Sabotages, when the Final Hide phase begins, all player's screens will become red.
  • A different alarm audio plays when the Final Hide begins, but it sounds similar to other critical Sabotage alarms.

Trivia

  • Sabotage cannot be used by Fortegreen in Practice, as the Sabotage interface will not appear.
  • If a critical Sabotage is called, an alarm will sound and the screen will flash red in time with the alert.
  • Sabotages are referred to as "Special Tasks" in Among Us's code.[1]
  • The time to fix a critical Sabotage depends on which map is being played. If a critical Sabotage is made on The Skeld, the timer will be 30 seconds. If a critical Sabotage is made on MIRA HQ, the timer will be 45 seconds. If a critical Sabotage is made on Polus or The Fungle, the timer will be 60 seconds. If a critical Sabotage is made on The Airship, the timer will be 90 seconds.
  • The alarm that plays during a critical Sabotage is similar to the one played when Henry steals the diamond in the remastered version of Stealing The Diamond. It is also seen in Breaking the Bank, but the alarm is higher in pitch than in Among Us.
  • In a previous version of Among Us, buttons for other abilities such as Vent and Use appeared in place of the Sabotage button when stood in the appropriate spot.
  • As of a new update, the Impostors have a personal map button but when pressed it opens the sabotage map. Pressing both do the same function and the exclamation marks for faking tasks appear in both maps.
  • In an old version of Among Us, the Sabotage button is used to take the place of the personal map button.
