Xiaojun (Simplified Chinese: 肖俊, Korean: 샤오쥔), born Dejun Xiao (Chinese: 肖德俊), is a Chinese singer and songwriter. He is the main vocalist of the Chinese male idol group WayV. Despite debuting in 2019, he was only introduced as a member of the South Korea-based male idol group NCT and its sub-unit NCT U during the NCT 2020 project. He is also part of WayV's first sub-unit WayV-KUN&XIAOJUN.
Early life
He was born and raised in Dongguan, Guangdong. He graduated from Donghua Junior High School.
In 2015, he participated in the competition "X Fire" with his self-composed songs.
He entered SM Entertainment in 2018.
Career

He was introduced as the first member of SMROOKIES SR18B on September 11, 2018[1].
WayV

The formation of WayV was announced through the group's official Weibo account on December 31, 2018[2], though the group's existence had been alluded to during the NCT 2018 promotions.
He debuted with WayV as the group's main vocalist on January 17, 2019, with the digital release The Vision.
For WayV's Rainbow V project, he sang a cover with Kun. The music they used was Khalil Fong's "紅豆 (Red Bean)," with Xiaojun providing the guitar accompaniment. On June 16, 2021, the duo debuted as a sub-unit, named WayV-KUN&XIAOJUN, with the digital release Back To You.

WayV was not considered a part of the NCT brand until the promotions for NCT 2020, marking Xiaojun, Hendery, and Yangyang's official debut in NCT and in South Korea. Xiaojun participated in promotions for the NCT 2020 RESONANCE Pt. 1 title song "Make A Wish (Birthday Song)".

Acting career
In January 2021, Xiaojun starred in the Youku web series 欢迎光临高中生 (Hello, My Youth) as the main character Chang Yan, marking his acting debut.

His hobby is taking photos using a film camera. He usually uses it to take photos of the other members.
He loves Lao Gan Ma. He also likes green tea and mint chocolate. The other members question his food preferences.

His prison cell number in 超时空 回 (Turn Back Time) was 08 1000.
His member code for NCT 2020 promotions was M08, with M signifying that he's the 13th member of NCT according to age order (excluding Sungchan and Shotaro).

Personal life
His family is composed of his father, mother, and older brother. His father Weilin is a folk artist, and his brother Defei is engaged in music-related industries. He had a pug named Zhupi who passed away in the winter of 2018.
He is currently a student of the 2017 Musical Theatre Department of Shanghai Theater Academy.[3]

Trivia
- He can speak four languages: Cantonese, Mandarin, English, and Korean.
- He learned English by watching a lot of movies, which is why he speaks with a bit of a British accent.
- Upon being asked what language he thinks in, he responds by saying "I think a lot."[4]
- In the new dormitory, he has his own room, but shares the unit with WinWin, Lucas, and Hendery.
- In the old dormitory, he shared a room with Kun and YangYang. The room has a computer, which they use to play games.
- One of the names he calls himself is "DJ", which are his initials (De Jun), in case people have a hard time pronouncing his name. Though the WayV members laugh at him for this, they do refer to him as DJ from time to time, mostly in social media posts and comments.
- The "jun" syllable in his name is quite difficult for foreigners to pronounce, so a lot of people end up pronouncing it as "jin".[5]
- Because his and his brother's name are quite similar (Xiao Dejun and Xiao Defei), even their parents mix up their names a lot.[5]
- He learned the guitar and piano by himself. Besides that, he can also play the drums and the ukulele.
- He has been using his guitar since he was in 3rd year of high school.
- Pre-debut, he had vlogs on Yizhibo. In one video, he was broadcasting the aftermath of a flood.
- He resembles SHINee's Jonghyun.
- He doesn't gain weight easily. He started working out because he was too thin.
- He used to jog for 8 km every morning with Kun.
- His bright hair colors, notably silver during "天选之城 (Moonwalk)", pink during "Bad Alive", and neon yellow in "Make A Wish (Birthday Song)", received great attention. Notably, the latter was born out of a mishap on set: Xiaojun's orignal hair color didn't seem striking enough on cam, so they quickly dyed it into neon yellow.
- When he was young, he looked like a girl because of his long hair and lashes. People would ask him if he accidentally entered into the wrong bathroom, and bored classmates would ask him if he was a boy or a girl.[5]
- He still doesn't know his mom's plate number, even though she's had the car for seven to eight years.[5]
- Lucas thinks that traditional Chinese songs are very slow and "Xiaojun style", noting that his voice is very rare in Chinese pop music.[4]
