History
East Germany received 1,316 Schützenpanzerwagen 70 produced in Romania between 1980-1990.
Like their Soviet Counterparts, two Motorisierte Schützenregimenten of the Motorisierte Schützendivisionen along with all three regiments of the reserve Motorisierte Schützendivisionen was equipped with SPW.
