Wildwind

Dark Skull, Stormy Weathers, and Lightning Strikes, together known as Wildwind is a glam rock band and the main antagonists of the 2003 movie Scooby-Doo! and the Legend of The Vampire.

Biography

Early Life

Wildwind was a band that wanted to bring glam rock back into the 20th century. The members of the band included Dark Skull, who played guitar, Stormy Weathers who played bass, and Lightning Strikes who did drums. Their manager was an English man named Jasper Ridgeway. During the Vampire Rock Concert where Wildwind played, they got to third place in the contest, which didn't sit well with them. Becoming bitter about this, Wildwind went camping up at Vampire Rock and then went into hiding believing that this could boost their careers and make a surprise return at the next year's Vampire Rock Concert. However, Wildwind recalled the rules set by Daniel Illiwara, the manager of the Vampire Rock Concert, that they weren't allowed to play again since they took part in the contest previously. To get around those rules, Dark Skull began to pose as Daniel's partner Russell while Lightning Strikes and Stormy Weathers became the Two Skinny Dudes, an unsigned band in the contest.

Jasper was unaware of what his band was doing and was devastated when they disappeared, especially when the staff at the Vampire Rock Concert were unable to locate Wildwind after searching the area. Jasper then had costumes made of Dark Skull, Stormy Weathers, and Lightning Strikes to recall all the good times that they had together. Jasper eventually became a manager for another band called the Bad Omens, but still mourned Wildwind, believing they were deceased.

Scooby-Doo! and the Legend of The Vampire

The villagers of Australia believed that the Yowie Yahoo turned Wildwind into vampires. Wildwind took advantage of this misbelief to disguise themselves as their vampire counterparts. To fool the villagers even further, Wildwind used their smokescreens and rock climbing gears to make it look like they could fly and used special holographic projectors to emulate the Yowie Yahoo. They began kidnapping all the performers of the Vampire Rock Concert such as Matt Marvelous and the Bad Omens. Rather than harming Matt Marvelous and the Bad Omens, Wildwind convinced them to take diving trips with all expenses paid. Once that occurred, Daniel would be forced to declare the Two Skinny Dudes as winners by default and have them close out the festival. However, it would be Wildwind closing the festival instead of the Two Skinny Dudes.

Wildwind's plans soon became awry when Daniel asked Mystery Inc. to investigate by performing in the contest. Fearing that Mystery Inc. could outshine the Two Skinny Dudes, Wildwind kidnapped the Hex Girls, who weren't their competition but were there to open the festival, since they knew Mystery Inc. would give up their chance to perform to search for the Hex Girls, making the Two Skinny Dudes declared the winners by default. Wildwind offered the Hex Girls an expensive diving trip that they would pay for if they left the festival, but the Hex Girls was furious at being kidnapped and refused. Wildwind then left the Hex Girls out into the outback. Fortunately for the Hex Girls, Daniel's grandfather Malcolm found the Hex Girls while they were wandering in the outback and brought them back to civilization.

Wildwind's plans were foiled when Daphne Blake, a member of Mystery Inc, accidentally discovered their hideout. Mystery Inc. then examined the equipment that Wildwind was using. Wildwind tried to scare Mystery Inc. away and summoned the Yowie Yahoo to attack them only for Scooby-Doo's dog collar to reflect sunlight onto the Yowie Yahoo, which destroyed their holographic projection. Wildwind then tried to attack the gang themselves only to be caught in a net that Fred Jones and Daniel set up. Daniel was startled to learn that Russell was Dark Skull.

After Mystery Inc., Wildwind, and Jasper explained everything that had happened, Wildwind was arrested. Mystery Inc. had originally suspected the Bad Omens were behind this and that Jasper put them up to it, but when Wildwind abducted the Bad Omens, they had to search for new suspects. After realizing that the Two Skinny Dudes might have been posing as the vampires when they arrived, Mystery Inc. suspected Jasper of being the third vampire after Jasper became chummy with the Two Skinny Dudes. Because Jasper managed the Bad Omens and Wildwind beforehand, Velma Dinkley thought that Jasper took the Bad Omens' makeup so that he and the Two Skinny Dudes could pretend to be the vampire versions of Wildwind. Jasper denied it as he couldn't wear all that makeup even if he wanted to due to having very sensitive skin. Fred then recalled that he, Daphne, and Velma went to Jasper's trailer when Jasper said he would be there, but Jasper wasn't there. Jasper then glumly admitted that he was meeting with the Hex Girls about being their manager due to lacking confidence in the Bad Omens. Jasper lied because he didn't want the Bad Omens to be upset with him. Daphne was still suspicious of the costumes that Jasper had of Wildwind and Jasper explained that it was to remember all the good times he had with Wildwind since he was devastated by their disappearance. Jasper was then shocked to learn that Wildwind was still alive.

In the aftermath, Mystery Inc. performed at the Vampire Rock Festival where Daniel introduced them as "The Meddling Kids" and they performed alongside the Hex Girls with everyone, including Daniel, enjoying the show.

Trivia

  • Dark Skull claims that Wildwind didn't necessarily abduct anyone, but they still abducted Matt Marvelous and the Bad omens.
    • While Fred, Daphne, and Velma were being pursued by Wildwind, they could've endangered Fred, Daphne, and Velma by chasing off the mountain and to their deaths. Fortunately, Fred, Daphne, and Velma landed in the water with Daphne doing a successful dive before doing so. Wildwind also harassed Shaggy Rogers and Scooby-Doo while they were helping themselves to the food at the Vampire Rock Concert. There was no need for them to harass Shaggy and Scooby, but Wildwind chose to harass them out of pleasure.
