Valtos is a supporting antagonist in the Black Clover franchise. He is a major antagonist in the first saga, before redeeming himself, and attempting to atone for his past crimes. He is a rogue mage of the Clover Kingdom and a former member of the Eye of the Midnight Sun.
He is voiced by Daiki Hamano (who has also voiced Varuna in Record of Ragnarok) in Japanese version and by Chris Guerrero in English version.
Personality
Valtos was, and still is, one of the most loyal and protective subordinate of Patolli, since he owed Patolli his life no matter if the latter was Licht or not. He would even disobey the latter's order and protect him from attacks. He was usually calm and quiet, but would become panicked if Patoilli was in grave danger.
Valtos also shown to have a genuiue guilty conscience comparing to Rades Spirito. After being betrayed by Patoilli, Valtos realized how horrible his action was and immediately complied with Asta when the latter demanded them to pay for their sins. Still, he remained loyal towards Patoili since the latter saved his life, and helped him and Asta in exorcising the elves.

However, Rades' rage and hatred for being betrayed had awakened his magic and made it genuiuely available to bring people back to life for real. With it, Rades revived himself and Sally. Rades attempted to unleash his revenge against Licht, before he and the others encountered the Black Bulls members (except Gauche, Yami and Finral).
Delighted, Rades asked them to work for him and his revenge, but Asta rebuked Rades instead, proclaiming they were resucuing people instead of seeking revenge, before he attacked Rades for his crimes in the Royal Capital and called out his hypocrisy, saying if he really wanted to help, he should atone his sins.
Shocked, Rades refused to admit his fault and asked for help from Valtos and Sally. Much to his dismay, however, neither of them would follow his idea, since Valtos had a change of heart after realizing how horrible his crimes were, whilst Sally had no problem working with Asta as long as she had a chance to study his physiology. Running out of gambits, Rades reluctantly accepted Charmy's rice and angrily accepted Asta's offer, but he stated that he would follow his own route.
Inside the Shadow Palace, Valtos and Rades track down Patolli to the eleventh chamber, but Zagred torturing Patolli terrified them too much to enter the room.
After Zagred was defeated, his magic did not disappear and instead threatens to swallow the Shadow Palace and everyone inside. After teleporting himself and Rades into the Shadow Palace, Valtos saved a group of Magic Knights and elves and warps them up to the topmost chamber where the exit was. After the humans and elves return to Clover Castle, Valtos handed William Vangeance's grimoire to Patolli, stating no matter who Patolli was or what he did, one thing was for real - Patoilli saved Valtos' life.
After the elves was exorcised, Rades forcefully revived Patolli so that he could pay for what he did, before he and Valtos teleported themselves away.
Arc 10
After the war was over, Rades, Valtos and Sally returned back to the Clover Kingdom where they helped out rebuilding the kingdom. Upon Asta's arrest and trial had opened, Rades was angrily complaining about doing labors in the ruins and scolded Valtos, but Valtos merely replied that Rades brought it upon himself and he (Valtos) only wanted to atone. Their argument was interrupted by Jack the Ripper, who warned the prisoners to be quiet and get back to work.
