~ Udyr's view on the conflict of the Freljord. |
Udyr The Sprit Walker is a playable character in League of Legends. While not entirely a villain in that he himself doesn't take any kind of pleasure in the actions of his tribe, he nonetheless is a leader among them and participates in their warmongering ways. He is the adoptive father of Sejuani and the lead Shaman and Spirit Walker of the Winter's Claw Tribe. He is also a major enemy to Volibear, having gained the demigod's wrath.
He was voiced by J.S. Gilbert (who also voiced Dr. Mundo and Sion in the same game, Sweet Tooth and No-Face in Twisted Metal, Kingdok in Bone, Astaroth in Soul Calibur II, Lex Luthor and Mongul in Superman: The Man of Steel, and Overt-Kill in the Spawn video game) prior to his rework, and by Sean Rohani (who also voiced Shiva and Bishamonten in Record of Ragnarok, and Hath-Set in DC Super Hero Girls) ever since.
Personality
Udyr is a honest and humble man who carries a significant weight on his shoulders. The most powerful Spirit Walker to ever exist, he is able to harness and use the might of the ancient Freljord Demigods, though this was a tremendous burden and curse to him for most of his life. Able to hear and feel the call of the wilds, Udyr resented being born with this rare gift for a long time, and would often succumb to their power, the destructive aftermath of which plagued him with guilt. In time, he would finally learn to gain control, of not only the beasts within him, but of himself and his mind. Spending a significant amount of time in Ionia gave Udyr a deep understanding of the path he was born to walk. Returning home with his newfound insight and control, Udyr pledged himself to Sejuani once more, daughter of the woman whom he once loved so very deeply. In time, their bond would grow greatly, with Udyr becoming her Oathfather in the process.
Despite being one of the leaders of the Winter's Claw Tribe, Udyr doesn't revel in the conflict his people both cause and perpetuate. While he doesn't shy away from the violence, he understands that conflict makes those who take part in it strong. Udyr fights out of a desire to protect and ensure his people's growth, perhaps on a deeper spiritual level than Sejuani's cold and jaded stance on conquest.
