Appearance

Human form

Tomoe-Artwork (Anime)

Tomoe is an extremely beautiful young woman with wavy waist-length turquoise-blue hair (which have a mist like look to them) that is tied up in a ponytail with a chest-length hair strand hanging on the left side while she has short bangs hanging on either side, red reptilian eyes and a curvaceous figure.

She has several golden hair pins sticking out of the ponytail. She is wearing a red scarf around her neck. She is wearing a traditional Japanese kimono that is green with purple accents. The kimono is open in the front, revealing a white undershirt. She is also wearing a red belt with a gold buckle. Her legs are adorned with red and white leg warmers, and she is wearing white footwear. She accessorizes with a few gold chains on her outfit.

She tends to walk and talk with a very masculine style, which makes her come off as more of a tomboy.

Dragon form

Tomoe's Dragon form is that of an Oriental/Eastern Dragon with long hair that look like mist, long flowing whiskers, long antlers, sharp teeth, reptilian eyes, four toes on each foot and a long serpentine body.

Personality

Tomoe tends to have an easy-going personality, likes taking on new challenges and learning interesting things related to the Edo period of Japan. Different from her previously lazy and disinterested outlook of the world. She is very Masculine most of the time, but whenever she blushes or acts coyly, she is said to be extremely feminine and a rare sight.

She's not serious at times to a dangerous degree. She has a habit to not focus on her duties and binge watch shows from Makoto Misumi's memories, much to everyone else's annoyance. She has a phobia that Mio might eat all of the media she painstakingly compiled and often acts childish whenever she fights with Mio over more Anime/Western Cartoons she would like to watch.

She finds great enjoyment in seeing what changes would come from Makoto and especially learning things from his memories. Furthermore, she has also desired a blatant desire to serve and, one day, receive his physical affection. As the first contracted soul to Makoto, she takes great pride in her status, often reprimanding the other contracted people like Mio or Shiki with a harsh, but older sisterly vibe. She tends to invite any species she takes an interest in into her Demi-Plane making sure they keep things interesting.

History

Being the second most powerful Greater Dragon, Tomoe is referred to as "Invincible" for being literally undefeated by any being. The cause for her being referred as such is mainly because of her special ability, "Asora". Her real name is not known to the general public and most people refer to her either as the "Invincible Dragon" or the "Mirage Dragon".

Sometime in the past, she fought the Black Spider of Calamity, but the Black Spider of Calamity lost interest in the fight after it left, so she didn't pursue it. Later on, she decided to not care about the World and went into hibernation in her cave in the Wasteland.

At one point in time, it seems that she received her powers from Futsu and/or Root. Her previous personality was that of a disinterested and morose train of thought, that the world was so boring and just didn't wish to partake in any day-to-day events, often spends long years just napping.

Present

She meets Makoto when he confronts her on her territory. Amazed by his power and memories, she proposes that they form a contract, which Makoto eventually accepts. Due to the vast difference in their magical powers, the contract had to be one of servitude, causing Shen to assume human form. The two would found Mist Town upon seeing how the Demiplane she controlled had expanded thanks to their contract. After the Black Spider of Calamity joined as another of Makoto's servants, the two received their respective names from him.

Tomoe is often seen as the Most Knowledgeable and capable person by mostly everyone whose met her and are often confused that someone as strong as her would serve under a weak looking "Hyuman chimera" that is Makoto Misumi. She often acts as second in command, making sure that the day-to-day stuff is kept up to task with, but anytime she gets too stressed, she often ditches work to focus on one or more of her many hobbies.

Powers & Abilities

Tomoe was considered one of the most feared beings in the Goddess's World due to her origins as a powerful dragon and her contract with Makoto Misumi, that increased her already amazing power. As a dragon, Tomoe was reffered as "invincible" and is the second strongest of all the Greater Dragons, surpassed only by Root and Futsu.

She possesses immense physical strength, durability, and the ability to manipulate minds and illusions. After forming a contract with Makoto, her strength remains incredibly high, even in her human-like form. While she may not be as physically powerful as she was in her dragon form, her combat skills and abilities make her a formidable warrior.

Tomoe’s combat prowess is a blend of raw power, strategic intelligence, and mastery of various combat forms. She can take on multiple opponents at once and is highly adaptable in battle, using her wide range of abilities to outmaneuver and overpower her enemies.

Abilities:

  • Magic of Fog = Tomoe Tsukimichi
Elemental Manipulation: Tomoe has mastery over elemental forces, particularly Water and Wind. She can create powerful storms, generate torrents of water, and manipulate the atmosphere to her advantage in battle. Tomoe can wield another type of elemental magic that makes her stand out as she is, known as Magic of Fog, which allows her to camouflage or deceive his enemies along with illusion magic, at the same time sher can attack, or use it as an intermediary with her ability to manipulate space-time, which gives Tomoe another title such as the "Mirage Dragon" or "Dragon of the Fog".
  • Space-Time Manipulation = Tomoe Tsukimichi
Space-Time Manipulation: One of Tomoe’s most unique abilities is her power to create and manipulate dimensions, using his fog magic as an intermediary. She can open portals, travel between dimensions, and even create pocket dimensions. She often uses this ability to transport herself and others or store items in a separate space called "Subspace" or "Demiplane". Despite how strong and useful this ability of Tomoe is, it has its weak points; it has been seen that extremely strong and powerful beings like Mio, can break the barriers /doors that are between Tomoe's dimension and the other world, making their way through the cracks, although she can feel it when someone enters by force, but the same Gods can pass to the Subplane without any problem and without Tomoe noticing, or her Master Makoto with whom she shares domain. (Although it is possible to seal the "Doors of Fog" completely and thus keep the demiplane practically undetectable to the vision of a god or other beings).
    • Creation of Barriers: By using her Space-Time Manipulation ability, Tomoe can create separate magical barriers that can cover anywhere from a small location to an entire city in a short amount of time. Tomoe can create the magical barriers independently, capable of lasting up to 1000 years of existence, which can keep all living beings or anything protected within it, while the Mist Barrier causes a time distortion/illusion effect capable of warping away or preventing external forces from locating them.
  • Llusion Magic = Tomoe
Illusion Magic: By using fog, Tomoe excels in illusion magic, allowing her to create convincing illusions that can deceive enemies or even alter their perception of reality. This ability is useful for both combat and reconnaissance. She can even interfere with the boundary between life and death due to the power-up of her illusions.[5] Although Tomoe can generate any type of illusion she wants, from a pleasant one to a horrible one, showing an ugly illusion to her adversary would be somewhat risky, especially if it is one with a power close to or greater than that of the elder dragons, because they would begin to doubt the spell placed, resisting and then managing to escape its effects, so she usually chooses to show something beautiful that her adversaries long to have, although this only decreases the chances of getting out of the illusion.
    • Pure Illusory Reality: Eternal dreams, illusions and reality all bound between those two, as long as you doubt it for even a single moment, your body will turn into an illusion itself. A spell that can turn others into illusions.
  • Mind Reading: Absorption of general Knowledge from just being around other people, causing her to basically be a walking Encyclopedia and understands the nature of societies down to the laws and habits. She tends to read minds whenever she walks near someone, causing her problems in large crowds.
    • Memory Viewing: Tomoe has the ability to view people's memories and crystalize them onto a magic mineral medium, causing her to basically develop pseudo-digital format of entertainment. She is particularly attached to those related to Japanese culture and history. This power allows her to learn quickly and adapt, which is why she adopts a samurai persona.
  • Minor Duplication: Tomoe is able to create miniature clones of herself by materializing part of her power, called "fragments" or "offshots". Tomoe is linked to her offshoots' senses, which makes it possible to e.g. see each other's field of view.
  • Dragon Mother: A power that lets you understand the world’s dragon pulse and utilize them. (Received from Futsu)[6]
  • Swordsmanship: Inspired by her admiration for samurai culture, Tomoe has developed exceptional swordsmanship skills. She often wields a katana in battle, combining her natural strength with precise and deadly sword techniques.

Duplicate creations of Tomoe:

Equipment

  • A short katana named Shirafuji
  • A long katana named Yae Kuro Ryu

The long katana Yae Kuro Ryu multilayered black dragon> the was made by the elder dwarfs out of a mysterious tree that was able to face a mountain fire head on. The wood is harder than steel, it is so tempered that a fire could not destroy it.

It is a fire element katana that is opposite to Shirafuji.

  • One of the katanas has an ability called [Marking]. When the requirements are fulfilled, you can ignore the distance and freely cut the target, the consumption of magic power is not to be underestimated, but only if not used on the katana.

Relationships

Companions

  • Makoto Misumi: Tomoe finds Makoto to be fun and entertaining while she also enjoys looking at his memories and all the different interesting things in his world, especially Japanese period dramas about samurais. She is always proud of being his servant. Like Mio, Tomoe will beat up any foes brutally if they ever insult Makoto no matter how strong they are. However, after Makoto was kidnapped for the first time, this made her panic and scared to lose him. Moreover, after that event, she's started blushing and happily enjoyed every moment she stays with him. In addition, she's never missed a chance to grow their relationship, for instance, she asked Komoe (a child who was created by mana of them) to call him father (お父さま/Otou-sama) which is something that Mio opposed vehemently. The morning after Makoto had consummated his relationship with Mio she came into his room after he woke up. She told him she had been waiting all night for her turn as she and Mio had agreed that Mio would be the first to have sex with him and it was now her turn. Before Makoto could respond she had already undressed and climbed on top of him and told him there was no way she was going to stop now. She then proceeded to initiate sex with him. When Mio returned to the room and found them together, she and Tomoe proceeded to get into a fight. Both of them let everyone in the plane know that they finally had sex with Makoto.[7] In chapter 318 (WN) she tested Makoto's feeling towards children and after she finds out that he likes kids she tells him she wants to have his child.[8]
  • Mio: Tomoe has somewhat of a rivalry with Mio that can at times end up causing problems for others. Despite this, she has no real animosity towards Mio, treating her like a sister and making sure to try and teach her how to be a proper servant. She often teases her for her failures to have sex with Makoto Misumi earlier in the series, which has been replaced with teasing her whenever she shows her gluttonous side in public.
  • Shiki: In comparison to Mio, they seem to have a relationship with less "violence", but Tomoe strongly "punishes" Shiki when he does not do his job well and she often teases him that he can't grow a spine whenever Herself or Mio lord over his failures.
  • Tamaki: Tomoe doesn't trust Tamaki, mainly because she can't look into her memories and it makes her unable to read her motivation or motives.

Subordinates

  • Tomoe's Offshoot: An unnamed fragment of Tomoe transformed into a mini version of Tomoe with her own thoughts and personality, to help with surveying the land of Asora. When she died, Tomoe felt the death and suffered injury as her life was connected to the offshoot.
  • Komoe: A second fragment of Tomoe transformed into a mini version of Tomoe and is her own person, much like the previous offshoot. Unlike the previous fragment, Tomoe added more power along with using Makoto Misumi's mana from a Draupnir ring to ensure Komoe would not be as vulnerable.
  • Lime: Tomoe trained Lime and gave him her blood. She is surprisingly aware of Lime's growth and commitment to get stronger to protect his ideals, showing her that even Hyumans can behave in interesting ways.

Acquaintances/Allies/Comrades

  • Ema: They have a good relationship overall; she often reminds Tomoe of her assigned jobs and is able to threaten Tomoe occasionally by reporting some of her behaviors that would make cause Makoto Misumi to get angry. Despite Ema being scared of her at first, she has been more actively understanding and even bosses Tomoe around, much to her chagrin.
  • Toa: Tomoe trained Toa as Makoto requested, she sees her as one of the factors that can remind Makoto about the old world, it's unsure to say that Tomoe is planning to make Makoto pay less attention to her carefully and slowly. When Makoto made it clear he wasn't planning to return to Japan, Tomoe loses interest in interfering with any inter-personal relationships.
  • Rinon: Tomoe is thankful to Rinon of saving her from Makoto's scolding. Wants to have a daughter like her with Makoto one day.
  • Tomoki Iwahashi: Tomoe sees Tomoki as a naive idiot brat and she muses that he is like a kid who just got an edged weapon that can cut well. She views his charming ability as "nasty" and looks at him with disgust with his lust-driven perverted face when he tries to charm her.
  • Mora: Mora is one of the rare hyumans who are capable to recognize Tomoe as a dragon with her overconfidence in her talent that she'd tried to use it on Tomoe, but miserably failed.
  • Lily Front Gritonia: Tomoe sees Lily as a scheming person.
  • Hibiki Otonashi: Tomoe is perplexed about Hibiki's over-competitive nature and "tantrum throwing fits" when she loses fairly in anything she challenges people with.
  • Root: Leader of Greater Dragons. Absolutely disdains them for their Draconian upbringing, and then losing a ton of close siblings simply because Root wishes to get stronger faster. Nowadays, Tomoe is just abhorred about how perverted they are and how they use the guild system to their advantage to force Makoto and her to do "chores" for them.

Gods and Goddesses

  • Goddess: Tomoe views the Goddess as selfish for being to throw away Makoto Misumi and the way she governs the world. Despite disliking the goddess, she really doesn't wish to get involved unless ordered to.
  • Daikokuten:
  • Susanoo:
  • Athena:

Trivia

  • Her name "Shèn" (蜃) is written in Chinese, and most likely is based on Shen, a shapeshifting dragon believed to create mirages. The usage of the name "Shèn" referring to either the shapeshifting dragon or a sea monster (namely a "large clam"), caused some misunderstanding to Makoto Misumi when he first heard the name.
    • "Tomoe" (巴) is a name given by Makoto, based on the name of the famous female Samurai, which most likely would be "Tomoe Gozen".
    • Her demeanor and socializing skills come off as very masculine, which has caused Makoto to feel very uncomfortable around Tomoe for the first few weeks of her acquiring her Human Form.
    • Despite her immature personality, she is actually extremely intelligent and she has a thirst for adventure and making the world a tad brighter. Many people have sworn loyalty to her for her whimsical kind sense of honor. She has a habit to nervously laugh whenever Makoto does something unbelievable in her viewpoint. Her love of samurai has influenced her even further, which exasperated friends and allies alike.
    • She tends to use her illusory magic or attacks to fulfill dark, perverted things the person she attacks and tends to view these people as extremely pathetic. She is technically a Mind Reader, being able to shift through anyone's thoughts or memories.
    • She has a deep fear that Makoto may wish to return to his home, causing her to worry that her life may lull back into boredom. Although in later chapters, this fear is assuaged and her new goal is trying to find a way to bring more samurai entertainment to her world through her powers.
  • In Season 2 Episode 7 and Season 2 Episode 8, Tomoe is temporarily voiced by Brianna Roberts due to Monica Rial (Tomoe's English voice actress) going on a brief hiatus when her mother Donna Boyd Jean Rial passed away from melanoma on February 29, 2024.
