Komoe (コモエ) is a recurring character in this series. She is the second fragment created by Tomoe after the death of the first offshoot. Like the previous one, her role is to help supervise and collect information regarding the alternate space Asora.

Following the demise of the first offshoot, the second has been given more power and strength, from the mana of Tomoe and Makoto, to the level that she is one of the stronger individuals in Asora, and has the additional role of supervising the combat training of other combat-oriented inhabitants of Asora.

Appearance

Like the first offshoot, she is a short 'chibi' version of Tomoe who barely reaches the height of Makoto Misumi's waist. Like Tomoe, she wears Japanese-themed clothing, consisting of a kimono and hakama. Unlike the first offshoot of Tomoe, she wears her hair with bangs at the front and, depending on the media, a high ponytail like Tomoe in the manga, or leaves it long at the back without tying it in the light novel.

Personality

Naive and playful, she is passing time mostly with inhabitants of Asora. She uses polite language when conversing with Makoto. Her personality is similar to the first, but different enough for Makoto to immediately recognize she was not the first offshoot.

It's worth mentioning that Komoe can't be considered an exact clone of Tomoe since Tomoe's offshoots generally have their own (different) personality.

Etymology

Makoto gave her name as thinking as "She looks like a chibi Tomoe, so I gave her a random name like Komoe", with some regret as he had never given the first offshoot a name before her demise.

Biography

A short time after the death of the first offshoot, Tomoe created a new offshoot as a secret weapon to help train the latest inhabitants of Asora, the Forest Ogres. At Tomoe's urging, the second offshoot would introduce herself to Makoto, who almost mistook her as the first offshoot before realizing she was a little different in personality. Realizing that he had never given the first offshoot a name, he wistfully named her Komoe, after which Tomoe explained that Komoe was created from the combined force of a charged Draupnir ring and her own mana to ensure she would be nothing like the first offshoot in terms of power and survivability. Tomoe would go on to joke that as a combination of her mana and Makoto's mana (from the charged ring), Komoe was effectively their child, and beckoned Komoe on, to which the latter called Makoto "father", but was immediately rebuked by a jealous Mio to call him "Young master/Waka-sama" instead.

• Tomoe: Komoe is the second offshoot of Tomoe. Tomoe is linked to her offshoots' senses, which makes it possible to e.g. see each other's field of view. Komoe manages parts of Asora while Tomoe, Mio and Shiki are not there.

Powers & Abilities

Physical capacity

Like her predecessor, Komoe possesses many of her abilities, both physical and sensory, but being stronger than before, having been created from Makoto's magic. Komoe stood out most in herself, was her resistance on a biological level, being able to survive just the bad, ugly and dangerous meals that Mio prepared the first time.^{(solo anime)[1]}

Spiritual Connection: Like her predecessor, Komoe is spiritually connected to Tomoe, so if any serious or emotionally charged situation occurs, Tomoe will know about it.

Magic

Komoe has the same qualities as her predecessor, such as manipulating water and being able to create magical barriers, but much more powerful and stronger, because she was created by the magic of Tomoe and Makoto.

• Fog Gates: Komoe can also open and travel through the Mist Gates of Asora, but can only do so if she has Makoto or Tomoe's does not deny them permission to do so, (mainly if Makoto allows it).

Natural Talents

Katana: Similar to Tomoe, Komoe learned and practices the use of katana, although she has not yet mastered it, she sometimes carries it with her.

Dance: Komoe acquired a taste for dancing and usually dances in a comical but entertaining way for the inhabitants of Asora.

Equipment

• A long katana forged by the Elder Dwarves. It is not proportionate to her size as it was made for a person of typical adult/teenage height, so it is longer than she is in height.

Hobbies

• Like Tomoe, Komoe likes Persimmons, being her favorite fruit.
• She likes bananas. Because bananas help her to retain her strength when she finishes her training.

Trivia

• Unlike her predecessor, Komoe is shown to be significantly more independent from Tomoe, although Tomoe herself said that each fragment of her has its own personality, and that shares a connection with each of its fragments.^[2]
• Although it is still debatable, and although Tomoe said it as a joke, Komoe could essentially be considered Makoto's daughter with Tomoe, since she was created from 2 different types of Manas.
