Lancer (ランサー, Ransā), also known as Mitsurugi (
Appearance
He has an appearance of a slender face of around 20-year-old man. Different from when he had the appearance of a kid that was exactly the same as a Hyuman, on his white skin, there’s a tattoo-like pattern floating. The pattern shines slightly and illuminates his appearance faintly, making his atmosphere feel like an illusion.
Personality
Lancer cares only for his own self-interests. He wants to transform strong people into a part of his collection (turn them into swords).
History
Lancer is the Greater Dragon of swords. He was created by Root as the result of the fusion between a sword and a dragon corpse. He has his nest located in a cave near the Gritonia Empire.
At the beginning of the story, we learn that Sofia kills him after a long fight that later gave her the surname "The Dragon Slayer". However, the truth is that she makes a pact ("gamble") with Lancer (Mitsurugi). Both then ally themselves with the Demons and join the war against the Hyuman kingdoms.
Present
When Makoto got teleported by the Goddess the first time, he meets Sofia and Lancer who were marching with the army to invade the capital of Limia. They both attack Makoto, thinking that he was here as one of the pawns of the Goddess. They cut some of Makoto's fingers (they are the second in this world to inflict damage onto Makoto, the first being Mio in spider form). Both Makoto, Sofia and Lancer took a lot of damage from this fight. Makoto fled from the fight, teleporting himself to Asora, after unleashing an attack towards the sky, learning later that this attack crashes to the ground, killing equally both humans and demons that were fighting in the surrounding area, creating a lake, leaving Sofia and Lancer in awe and anger because they think that he went easy on them. They strengthen themselves while waiting for a second round against the powerful mysterious entity, that was now called by hyumans and demons equally, by the surname "Devil".
They will have this chance when Makoto gets teleported by the Goddess a second time during the invasion of Limia. Sofia will fight against Makoto while Lancer pursues Hibiki. Lancer then encounters Larva (Shiki), as he was protecting Hibiki. Pleased by this encounter, Larva presents himself as the servant of the Devil, thus beginning the fight. Larva controls the entire match as if he was always one step ahead of Lancer and planning traps that Lancer always falls in. However, the truth is that Larva was weaker than Lancer and that one step out of his plan would have cost him to loss and die. Shiki won the match by a hair’s breath with a sneak attack on Lancer's back, killing him and making him lose his gamble with Sofia.
It is later known that Greater dragons reincarnate as an egg, losing at the same time most of their past life memories. However, this time, all Greater dragons remember their past life and are all afraid of Makoto's monstrous power. They all got killed again by Tomoe and Root thus reincarnating again as an egg and finally losing their memories. Lancer's egg was entrusted to Glont, the Greater dragon of Earth.
Abilities and Equipment
As a Superior Dragon, Mitsurugi has immense power and combat skills.
Lancer uses all the swords that he’s collected throughout his life. The swords are in reality souls of strong people that came to challenge him and failed or people he was interested in, approached them and then betrayed them in order to turn them into a part of his collection. The stronger the person, the stronger the sword.
- Magic: Lancer possesses advanced magical abilities, with high affinity for the Water element. He can use magic both offensively and defensively, creating powerful attacks or barriers.
- Sword Manipulation: Mitsurugi can remotely manipulate weapons, particularly his multiple swords. This ability allows him to control multiple weapons at a distance, adding an extra layer of unpredictability in battle.
- Spatial Manipulation: One of Lancer's unique abilities is spatial manipulation, which grants him control over space itself. This allows him to create spatial distortions, enabling him to manipulate the battlefield by altering distances, disorienting enemies, teleporting or warping attacks.
- "Cage of swords" - This is Lancer's special place where he stores all his swords (similar to the space of Tomoe before it became Asora). He can also teleport people in this space to unleash a deadly multi-sword attack.
Relationships
- Sofia Bulga: She makes a contract with Lancer to become strong enough to beat her ancestor (Root).
