  • NON-CANON CONTENT
This article covers non-canon creations that might not have been produced by the author of the light novel series.

Mokshan解脱者モークシャン, mōkushan, lit. "Liberator"」 is a character appearing in the mobile game, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: ISEKAI Memories. He was created in the Loup Loupe based on Demon Lord Clayman, and is the only known individual to escape it. After his physical body was destroyed by Izis, Mokshan returned to Loup Loupe's cycle of death and rebirth.

A second and third one would be born from the first one's desires to be still be the strongest of the Loup Loupe, with the third one successfully escaping into the Central World.

Appearance

Mokshan looks nearly identical to Clayman, with the exception of his purple hair, yellow eyes and black suit compared to Clayman’s white suit.

The Third Mokshan looks the same as pseudo-awakened Clayman.

Personality

Mokshan is ambitious, wanting to escape the Loup Loupe, absorb all magicules from the Central World and turn the Mirror World into the one true world.

He was also known to be a cunning and a clever strategist, as seen how he was able to use Marionette Heart to escape the Loup Loupe by forcing the majin on the lower floors to wish for his escape, a feat which no one else could do, and even used it to force the residents of the Mad City to sacrifice themselves whenever they are about to die in order to create stronger copies of themselves. To maintain the space, he used the corpses of the copies as feed. In addition to that, knowing Veldora and Diablo’s powers, with Emils’ aid he transformed the Mad City residents into Orcinus Alters to prevent them from intervening.

Mokshan was also noted to mock Izis a lot, as seen how he “sympathized” with her and mocked her for not being able to understand her own ‘‘daughter’s’’ emotions. He even laughed when Veldora said Izis was a “crazy witch” who lived inside a mirror, noting how they were mocking her. When Izis called off their plan, he mocked her, saying her words sounded like the words of a sheltered princess, and after Hyuga’s defeat asked whether being young wasn’t advantageous. He mocks her further and states that the more pawns she creates the more pawns he also gets.

He is also very proud of himself for being the only Majin who was able to escape the Loup Loupe, calling himself as the "president" of the tower.

In addition to that, Mokshan also despises being known as a forgery, sharing Emils' beliefs and even claiming that the forgeries were also living creatures with beating hearts. He feels insulted by this, and wishes to prove that he and the other forgeries were not only equal to their original counterparts, but even better than them.

At the same time however, he also detests and fears only one thing alone, and that is being controlled by others. He is willing to use any means necessary to prevent himself from being controlled, and is ready to even kill anyone who tries to snatch his freedom away.

The third Mokshan shares the memories and the personality of the original one as well as the second one.

Background

Mokshan was created from the Loup Loupe made by Izis, the Mirror Witch as an unexpected result of an experiment she seemingly abandoned. Created on the basis of the Demon Lord Clayman, by gaining a similar body and through a chain of nameless Majin, Mokshan found himself entrapped within the Loup Loupe tower. Desiring to escape, the fake Deathman, having access to Clayman's abilities utilized his Marionette Heart curse to control all the nameless monsters and force them to wish for his escape, thus resulting in him getting out of the tower and arriving in the Mirror World.

Having found out that the tower existed within the Mirror World, a disappointed Mokshan eventually notices the Witch of the Mirror, Izis, who was plotting to take down Rimuru in order to escape from the Mirror World and approaches her, who only learns later about Mokshan's creation. Mocking the Mirror Witch for not being able to understand about her own daughter, the fake Deathman mocks her and suggests her to use Megalomania on her by combining with the infinity mirror. He convinces her to do so after stating he was the only one to actually escape from the Loup Loupe. Izis agrees to grant Mokshan control over the infinity mirror but asks him to take care of her. He agrees, claiming that she is the key to escaping from the Mirror World and begins the infinity mirror process.

Within the infinity mirror, Mokshan asks Izis to amplify Shinsha's desires, resulting in the creation of an incomplete copy of Tempest's city and a Mirrored copy of Rimuru Tempest, who takes on the name of Emils and the three of them ally together to transform the Mirror World into the Mad City, a city and a world much better than Tempest.

However, Mokshan had a secret motive of himself for allying with Izis. The fake Deathman, being ambitious as ever, was planning to transform the empty Mirror World itself into the Central World. Knowing the principles of the Loup Loupe, the working of the infinity mirror as well as Izis' skill arsenal, Mokshan used both of these powers together to not only create a new environment but combine both the worlds together into a single world.

After his defeat by Izis he is sent back to Loup Loupe, which he noticed and refused to be surpassed, his desire to be stronger resulted in a second and then third Mokshan being born with the latter successfully escaping to the Central World. He desired revenge on Rimuru where he temporarily traps their subordinates, but eventually Shinsha defeats him. Back in the Mirror World he attempted to forcefully make Emils obey him, but Emils defeats him instead.

Trivia

  • The word "Mokshan" (解脱者) stands for 'Liberated'. Mokshan is a word derived from the Sanskrit word "Moksha", which means the release from the samsara (world) and liberation from one's karma (the result of the actions of a person's past and present lives) in order to attain nirvana (the final goal in Buddhism that surpasses karma, samsara and suffering). Mokshan befits his name, as he was trapped within the Loup Loupe tower and freed himself.
  • Individuals born from Loup Loupe tower seem to possess a different personality than that of their base templates unlike the copies of individuals made by Megalomania, in the sense that they do not possess their base template's memories and experiences. The same goes for both Mokshan and Shinsha, who despite being made and appearing similar to their base templates, have absolutely no idea about their base templates let alone share their personality traits, with Shinsha herself knowing about Rimuru through Izis, while Mokshan only knows that he gained Clayman's body.
  • While Marionette Heart was only a special curse that was used by the Demon Lord Clayman to make individuals into his puppets, Mokshan was able to use the curse to increase his own power itself. It should be noted that while the curse operates the same way in both the Central World and the Mirror World, both have different mechanics due to the laws of the respective worlds they are used in.
  • He is the only character in the event where he is not fought as an actual Boss or any enemy unit either despite him playing a major role in the story event and being the mastermind behind the Mad City's creation.
  • Izis noted that Mokshan was easy to defeat due to the fact that he was created through a chain of nameless majin, implying that if he was created through named majin instead, he would be a formidable foe.
    • Though the third Mokshan born from the desires of the first and second one's desires, he was a formidable foe.
