Gouran (ゴウラン地方; Gouran Chihou) is a region in Suikoden, located in the Toran Republic.
Overview
The area encompassing the eastern side of Lake Toran, including Seika and the Great Forest Village, is known as the Gouran Region. Blessed with excellent fishing grounds on Lake Toran, the region has historically been home to many fishing towns and is known for its thriving fishing industry. The residents are spirited and place great value on camaraderie and pride.
Buildings in this area feature simple stone walls and tiled roofs. The largest city is Kouan. Fishermen in Kaku are known to take tourists out on their boats.
The Gouran region is also home to Toran Castle, which was used as the headquarters for the Liberation Army during the Toran Liberation War (SY 455-457). Several important members of the Liberation Army are from this area, including Lepant.
This region experiences a somewhat harsh climate due to winds coming from the lake.
