Garrett Wang is an American actor known for portraying Harry Kim on Star Trek: Voyager, a role he reprises in Star Trek Online.

Biography

Garrett Wang was born on December 15, 1968. Shortly after majoring in Asian Studies at UCLA, Wang was cast as Ensign Harry Kim on Star Trek: Voyager, a role he played from 1995 to 2001. After finishing Voyager, Wang retained his ties to the Star Trek franchise by appearing in the unofficial mini-series Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, alongside Tim Russ and Chase Masterson.

Garrett Wang appears in-game as part of the second expansion, Delta Rising, which was released on 14 October 2014. His character, Harry Kim, has been promoted to Captain of the U.S.S. Rhode Island and also acts as liaison officer on Kobali Prime.

  • Garret Wang's involvement with Star Trek Online was announced at the Star Trek Las Vegas Convention 2014, during the announcement of Delta Rising.[1] Wang had previously teased the reprisal of his role on Twitter in April 2014.[2] Wang will be the sixth actor to reprise his Star Trek role in-game, although the appearance of other Voyager cast members has also been hinted at.
  • During the announcement of Delta Rising at STLV 2014, Garret Wang received a tongue-in-cheeck promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade from Star Trek Online developer Al Rivera, due to the fact that Harry Kim was never promoted from Ensign during Voyager's journey through the Delta Quadrant.
  • Harry Kim commands the U.S.S. Rhode Island, the same ship Kim was seen commanding in an alternate timeline in the Voyager series finale Endgame. The alternate future of that episode took place in 2404, six years before Kim's appearance in Star Trek Online.
