Gator^{[note 1]} is a scrapped Badnik from Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Description

Gator resembles a green (though sometimes it may be colored blue) alligator-like robot on wheels. It rolls over and chomps the player during the stage. It was in Emerald Hill and Hidden Palace's Debug lists, although it is most known for its appearance in the lost Sand Shower Zone and the beta version of Mystic Cave Zone.

IDW Publishing

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing, during Sonic, Tails, and Belle's attempted escape from Eggperial City, the group was pursued by a horde of Badniks, among which was a Gator. Later, when Metal Sonic used his V. Maximum Overdrive Attack to damage the heroes' stolen aircraft, another Gator (possibly the same one from before) was among the Badniks tossed aside by the crashing ship.^[1]

Trivia

• This Badnik is called Alligator in early design documents.
• Gator and BFish are the only two Badniks found in the prototypes of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 to not also be featured in the Debug Mode of the Christian Whitehead-produced 2013 mobile release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
