“ | Poor R.! I cannot imagine how sad she is to lose her mother. She's an orphan now--and the new Duchess of Winnipeg, with all of the privileges and dangers of such a position. | ” |

The Duchess of Winnipeg was a member of the royal family of Winnipeg, the mother of Duchess R, and a probable member of VFD.
Biography
The Duchess was born as part of the royal family of Winnipeg, and at one point received an heirloom ring from her mother, which she eventually passed down to her daughter, R.[2]
It is likely that she (and/or R's Father) was a member of VFD, as R mentions having been watched by her VFD tutors in bed at night until they decided to recruit her, and R seems to have been allowed visits home, as she mentions her father giving her a gift.[3] The Duchess, thus, likely knew of her daughter's involvement in the organization and thus was likely a member herself.
Sometime when her daughter was an adult, the Duchess perished. R was then appointed as the new Duchess of Winnipeg. Her obituary in The Daily Punctilio was misspelled to announce that the "Duchess of Winnipeg Is Deaf."[1]
Trivia
- Her partner/husband died sometime before she did, as her death made R an orphan.
