Dr. Vermetti is a pharmacologist who resides in Rome. He appears as a minor supporting character in Serious Sam 4.
Biography
Not much is known about Vermetti's early life. When he was a child, his mother asked him to get some flour so she could make him a pizza. Upon finding the flour, he discovered it was full of "worms" (likely wheat weevil larvae).[1] Later in his life, he became a pharmacologist and began studying medicine, particularly involving worm medicine.

Vermetti gets the attention of Sam while wandering through the streets of Rome, who he wants help with getting rid of some 'worms'. He explains that the city is "full of worms". Sam, thinking he's crazy, tells him to calm down, but Vermetti will only be satisfied once the 'worms' are dead. For Vermetti to eliminate the worms, he needs an important ingredient in his research of a new medicine he is developing: hypermebendazole.[1]
Sam rushes to Vermetti's pharmacy, obtains the substance, and hands it back to Vermetti. He thanks Sam for his assistance, and Sam asks when this worm medicine will be ready. Vermetti says he will get the results in approximately six months. Sam is shocked at how long it is going to take, but Vermetti does offer Sam a Psychotropic Grenade in return for retrieving the ingredient for his research.
Personality and skills
Vermetti is shown to be slightly insane, and harbors an intense obsession with worms. He can also be heard muttering gibberish about worms, which is likely a form of psychosis. This is most likely due to the psychological trauma he experienced in his childhood.[1]
Relationships
Sam Stone
He trusted Sam well enough to help him find the missing substance needed for his pharmaceutical research, despite the two never having meeting each other before. He refers to Sam as "big gun man".
Appearance
Dr. Vermetti is an elderly man of Italian descent with bald spots on his head. He wears a brown blazer, brown pants and a white shirt with a brown bowtie. He wears black leather shoes on his feet.

- His name is a play on "verme", which means "worm" in Italian.
