Molty Python is the third level and environment in I Hate Running Backwards.
Overview
Molty Python has a medieval theme to it, mixed in with some late Middle Age themed settlements with graveyards and a swamp area. Unlike the previous level, there is a lot more open space. There are some obstacles, but mostly in the swamp part of the level.
The enemies in this level are mostly from the previous ones, such as Beheaded Rocketeers and Kleer Skeletons. Cucurbitos, Marsh Hoppers and Werebulls also appear in this level. The boss of this environment is the Lava Golem.
Gameplay
This level is the first to introduce interactable weapons, such as the cannons which are located throughout the area which the player can use their melee attack on to fire a single shot in a straight line towards where it's aiming. There are also winches before the castle area, which the player needs to both use their hammer on before they can open the portcullis that locks off the rest of the stage.
There are also traps in this environment, though they are not as common are they as are in the previous levels. One such trap is the bear trap, which will lock in the player in place and prevent movement for a short period of time.
Trivia
- The name for this level is a direct reference to the British comedy group Monty Python, though more specifically the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, considering the level's medieval theme.
