Pit Pot

Pit Pot is a 1985 Master System title, originally released as part of the Sega Card format.

Plot

The player takes on the role of Prince Egle, Alex Kidd's brother, to rescue Princess Rooney (later renamed Princess Lora in Miracle World) from an evil witch who had kidnapped her and locked her in a castle filled to the brim with monsters.

Gameplay

To do this, Egle, dressed as a knight must use the Sorcerors' hammer to defeat the monsters, break pathways, navigate corridors and locate the three key items he needs to save the Princess; a golden bottle of holy water used to dispell the magic on the Princess, a magic cross to seal the witch's magic and a golden ring to ask for her hand in marriage.

Egle can break parts of the pathway to cause the monsters standing on it to fall into the abyss, although they respawn immedietly afterwards in another location.

Trivia

• The Japanese release included a level editor, allowing players to create their own mazes and puzzles.
• Pit Pot recycled the core gameplay concept of Kotataro Hayashida's first game, the cancelled Chainbit.^[1]
• The western releases bundled Pit Pot with the game Astro Warrior as a double pack.
• Egle appears in his Pit Pot get up in Quartet alongside his brother, Opa-Opa and Teddy Boy in the game's sound test screen.
