Gooseka, sometimes known by his moniker of Gooseka the Slippery or "Stone Head" is a high ranking member of Janken the Great's invading army.
Appearance
Gooseka, much like his fellow commanders Chokkina and Parpalin, has a head shaped like a hand signal used in Rock-Paper-Scissors. In Gooseka's case his head is shaped like the 'rock' symbol, or a closed fist. He wears a blue gi of sorts that shows off his muscular chest. He wears an eyepatch over his right eye.
In Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX, Gooseka wears a blue outfit with accentuated shoulderpads and fingerless biker gloves. Gooseka seems to be rather battle scarred in his version, with a large scar over his left eye as well as his trademark eyepatch over his right. He also lacks the thumb appendage part of his face that the original design had.
History
Gooseka hails from Planet Paper-Rock, a planet where disputes are settled with life and death matches of Rock-Paper-Scissors. Having proved his skill in the game, he managed to become the third commander of Janken the Great's army came to Planet Aries alongside Chokkina and Parpalin to make Janken the new king.
Gooseka is the first member of Janken's army that Alex Kidd encounters. He is fiercely loyal to Janken but is also overconfident in his abilities as the third commander of the army, immedietly challenging Alex to a game of Janken, even going so far as to explain the rules to him. Once Alex beats him twice in a game, he explodes(or in DX is struck by lightning) transforming him into an Onigiri/Hamburger/Spanish Omelette or Fish and Chips meal, which Alex proceeds to devour.
Somehow being eaten by Alex doesn't kill him and he returns later during Alex's raid of Radaxian Castle to prevent him from proceeding. This time round after Alex defeats him at Rock-Paper-Scissors, Gooseka doesn't go down so easily, and puts up a fight against the Radaxian prince.
In the original Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Gooseka proceeds to seperate his head from his body, and has it fly at Alex who punches it repeatedly, eventually turning Gooseka once again into an edible snack, and defeating him for good.
In Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX, Gooseka doesn't detach his head, but instead thrusts his bare hands into the earth, and rips up blue and red rocks that he proceeds to throw at Alex. Alex can break the blue ones, but the red ones will kill him. Alex can continuously punch Gooseka whilst dodging the bouncing boulders, to cause him explode into food which Alex eats and defeats him for good.
Trivia
- Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX shows that Janken's army is filled with numerous henchmen that look like Gooseka, Chokkina and Parpalin. Gooseka's fellow Stone-Head's throw rocks at Alex with precise sniping capabilities, although they all seem to have both eyes and no scars on their faces. It can be assumed Gooseka is in charge of the Stone-Head troops.
- Gooseka is the only 'Janken Battle' opponent that the player is forced to guess or memorise his choices with as a Telepathy Ball shows up just before the showdown with Chokkina that will allow Alex Kidd to read the minds of every opponent afterwards.
- Gooseka hasn't a unique sprite for when facing the other direction, so his eyepatch appears to flip eyes when facing to the left.
- Gooseka is the only boss who doesn't get a new piece of artwork in the Sega Ages Switch version of Alex Kidd in Miracle World. He does however get to appear in the very end art piece depicting all the characters in the game, including the basic enemies.
