Overview

Skins are cosmetic items that customize units. They can be unlocked either by forming certain formables or by purchasing them for 250 Robux. Since they are purely decorative, skins do not affect unit costs, performance, or gameplay mechanics in any way. As of the March 6, 2025 Update, there are a total of 23 skins, each representing a nation's historical or modern military assets, ranging from eras of the Common Era (CE or BC) to the 21st century.

In order to equip a skin, enter the game menu and click on 'Skins'. Players are able can change their unit's appearance to that of some countries. Users can customize a Skin pack without having to use one collection only, by selecting various unlocked skins and applying it to a respective unit. (e.g., India Modern > Fighter, France WWII > Transport Aircraft, Japan Modern > Aircraft Carrier, etc.)

Skin Creators

The Skin Creators are a team responsible for designing skins, as their role name suggests. Once a Skin Creator submits a skin package, it is reviewed and approved by Hyperant, who then adds it to the game. To date, only the United States WWII and Russia Cold War ( Soviet Union) skins originated from Hyperant's side projects, as they were created long before the Skin Creators team was formed.

In return for their contributions, Skin Creators receive several rewards from Hyperant:

• An exclusive Skin Creator title;
• A unique role in both the Rise of Nations Group and the Discord server; and
• Payments of up to 20,000 Robux per bundle created.

There is no formal application process to join the team. However, interested individuals may contact Hyperant directly on Discord and showcase their 3D military models, provided they meet the listed criteria. As of 2025, it is currently unknown whether Hyperant is accepting new Skin Creators at this time.

Trivia

• Skins are not rigged for animation during idle or movement, meaning models remain static indefinitely. This includes motionless tank wheels, infantry not marching, and naval guns not rotating.
• The former default models were reworked due to the inefficient architecture of their meshes, with some models comprising 19,000 triangles, leading to continuous lag and technical issues. These models were overly detailed compared to others with about 5,000 triangles.
• The first skins introduced in the game included three packs: the United States WWII, Germany WWII, and Russia Cold War, all added in 2020. These were the only available skin bundles for several years until the major update on March 29, 2023, which introduced a wider variety of skins.
• Prior to the 03/29/2023 Major Update, Germany WWII required Germany to form the European Union for access, but this requirement was later transferred to Germany Modern.
• The nuke was the last military unit to receive a distinct skin, with nuclear skins released in the 10/25/2023 Major Update (October 25, 2023). The nuclear skins featured in multiple packages were created by CaptainSmollett.

• Napoleonic France was the first skin to feature horses as tanks, a distinct infantry uniform, and sailing ships.
• Unlike other infantry skins, Napoleonic France infantry holds their guns in a leaning position due to the musket's heaviness, firing inaccuracy, and slow reload during the Napoleonic era. Soldiers would walk with their guns in standby rather than aiming forward.^[1]
• The Yugoslavia and Sweden Cold War bundles were the first to feature unique transport boat skins.
• The Arabian Golden Age was the first skin to feature a supernatural entity, with the attacker represented by a man armed with a bow and arrow, flying on a purple carpet. This references the character Aladdin, a well-known figure from Middle Eastern folklore and tales.
