The Inklings are the main protagonists of the Splatoon franchise, appearing in some episodes of the OnyxKing series.

Appearance

They are humanoid beings with characteristics of a cephalopod species. They have they ability to dissolve into a small squid when swimming in ink. Inklings are half kid and half squid. The male has a ponytail on his head, and the female has long, flowing tentacles and a fringe.

History

During the Revenge of Zelus arc, Zelus gets Wario to kidnap Inklings, so she can turn them into soldiers to invade Peach's Castle, by mixing their DNA with Salmonids to create, Salmonlings. The Joy Factory was where they were created, but is now shut down by The Mémesistance. It's unknown of what happened too the Salmonlings after Zelus' defeat.
