As a giant, Kiba is very large (around Saul's size), towering over the giant children and the Straw Hats. He has long light hair, but the crown of his head is bald. He has two long tusks on either side of his mouth, which rest atop a flowing beard. The tusks themselves stick out from elevated cheekbones with whiskers, which lends him an overall walrus-like appearance.
In role as the principal, he wears round glasses and leaves the bald crown of his head exposed. His outfit includes a dark long-sleeved shirt and smooth shoulder pads. When called into battle, he wears a warrior's outfit, with a skull-faced belt buckle and fur lining, as well as shoulder pads with protruding spikes. He takes off his glasses and wears a helmet with two large horns sticking upwards.
Personality
Like the rest of the Walrus School faculty, Kiba wants to protect the school's students, and is willing to enter combat to do so. He appears to be a fairly rational person, and had trouble believing that the students' worst fears could have come to life.[1] He is very perceptive and correctly assumed that the monsters that arrived on Elbaph were the result of a Devil Fruit ability.[2]
Abilities and Powers
As the principal of Walrus School, Kiba is the highest authority in the institution when dealing with its internal affairs. As such, most of the school's teachers obey or report to him in case of emergencies.[1]
As a former member of the Giant Warrior Pirates, Kiba is a powerful individual. However, his advanced age has taken a toll on his body and he now suffers from chronic back pain, which has deteriorated his stamina and fighting skills to an extent.[1]
Weapons
Kiba wields a massive warhammer with a pair of tusks sticking out at the back of the head. He is skilled at using it, particularly against large beasts.[1]
History
Past
He was formerly a member of the Giant Warrior Pirates,[1] sailing the seas, but at some point in time he left the crew to lead the Walrus School, created at the request of KingHarald.
Final Saga
Elbaph Arc
Kiba defended the students of the Walrus School when they were attacked by the God's Knights' constructs. He attacked the serpent Jörmungandr just before it ate Aegir, allowing Saul to deal it a decisive blow. With the students temporarily secured, he noted the beasts in the forest, bringing Saul's attention to abnormal things happening around them.[1] Sometime afterward, Ange informed Kiba that the entirety of Elbaph was under attack by similar monsters. Kiba assumed that they were caused by someone'sabilities and urged prompt action to locate the culprit.[2]
However, the school suddenly found itself under assault by Rimoshifu Killingham of the God's Knights. Killingham easily put down Ange using a sleep paralysis ability, before slamming Kiba into the ground, leaving him unconscious.[3]
Kiba (牙?) literally means "tusk" in Japanese, a nod to his prominent tusks. Consequently, the VIZ Media translation chose to localize his name as "Tusk".
