Escaroo

"Don't be sluggish 'cause this snail is no slowpoke!"
Mega Man 4 USA package back

Escaroo (エスカルー Esukarū) is a giant snail robot that appears as a mid-boss enemy in Mega Man 4, Mega Man IV, and the Game Gear Mega Man game. It was originally used for transport, but it was later made into an immobile combat robot. There are two of them in Toad Man's stage. They are only vulnerable when their eyes are open, but at that point, they either launch their eyes to attack Mega Man, or launch bombs. It is weak to Ring Boomerang, which defeats it in six hits. The second battle is more risky, as Mega Man is forced to fight near a waterfall with two pits located on each side.

Trivia

  • The name "Escaroo" is probably derived from "escargot", the French word for snail.
  • In the North American box art from Mega Man 4, Escaroo has spikes in the shell, claws, a mouth with teeth, and antennae.
  • In Mega Man IV, Escaroo's body does not cause damage, and Mega Man can avoid the first Escaroo by jumping on its shell and sliding in the small opening behind.
  • In the Game Gear Mega Man game, Escaroo dies from a single hit of the Mega Buster.
