Chuluun

It might be a snow leopard. Their fur allows them to blend in with the snow and essentially disappear!
Ono on Chuluun[src]

Snow leopards are a species of animal native to the bamboo forest and the mountains. They feed on red pandas.

History

Chuluun's attacks on Domog's pack

It's a threat that you can't see. Who knows where it could be? Lurking behind every tree.
Domog on Chuluun[src]

When Chuluun began terrorizing several red pandas using her camouflage abilities, they banded together and awaited the arrival of a "Chosen One." Eventually, the Lion Guard passed through the bamboo forest, and the red pandas hailed Bunga as their long-awaited hero. In the face of the Guard's confusion, pack leader Domog explained that Chuluun, whom he described as a "ghost," had driven them from their homes and was terrorizing them. In order to uphold the Circle of Life, the Guard agreed to track down the ghost.

Together, the Lion Guard climbed a nearby mountain, where they encountered the ghost. While chasing it, Anga briefly spotted it running across a rock and described it as a cat-like creature. Ono then identified the "ghost" as a snow leopard and explained that snow leopards could blend in with the snow and essentially disappear. Working together, the Guard cornered the snow leopard, Chuluun, where she was visible, and Kion told her to leave the red pandas alone. Chuluun, however, refused and attempted to flee, though not before Bunga tackled her and covered her in orange paint.

Now fully visible, Chuluun attacked the red pandas. Though the Lion Guard rushed to the pack's defense, Chuluun evaded them once more. With the danger abated, Domog asked the Guard if they had found the ghost, and they explained that Chuluun was behind the invisible attacks. They then rallied the red pandas to help them defeat her once and for all.

Alongside their red panda allies, the Lion Guard cornered Chuluun on a cliff. Though she rolled around in the snow and became invisible once more, Bunga sprayed his stink in her face, and she fell off the cliff. Shortly afterwards, Makucha approached and recruited her to join him on his quest to get revenge on the Lion Guard.[1]

Makucha's army's arrival at the Tree of Life

My plan is to sneak in under cover of darkness. They won't see us, but they might hear us!
―Chuluun to Makucha and Ora[src]

After recruiting a Komodo dragon named Ora,[2] Makucha and Chuluun continued tailing the Lion Guard to the Tree of Life. Though Makucha attempted to take charge of the group, both Chuluun and Ora protested his authority. From nearby, Ullu spied on their conversation and left to inform the Night Pride.

Shortly afterwards, the group attempted to enter the mountain pass, only for the Night Pride to easily defeat them, as they did not work well together. That night, Chuluun led a second attack under the cover of darkness, but the Night Pride similarly defeated her and her allies, driving them out of the Tree of Life's territory.

The next day, Makucha's army attacked again and nearly overpowered the Night Pride. However, Kion arrived to help, and Ora fled in fear of his roar. Despite Ora's absence, Makucha and Chuluun scaled a nearby cliff in the hopes of reaching the Tree of Life, but Kion and Rani intercepted them and defeated them. As they fled, they ran into the Lion Guard, and Bunga sprayed them with his stink for good measure.[3]

Mama Binturong's plot

If your so-called plan had worked, we'd be at the Tree of Life right now.
―Chuluun to Ora[src]

After Makucha's army's failure, Mama Binturong approached them and declared herself their new leader.[3] For her first plan, she instructed her allies to fake an attack on her so that the Night Pride would allow her entry to the Tree of Life. The plan worked, with the Night Pride defending Mama Binturong from Makucha's army and welcoming her for healing.

Upon learning more about the Tree of Life, Mama Binturong commanded her allies to kill Queen Janna, while she distracted the Night Pride. The plan went into motion, with Chuluun, Makucha, and Ora sneaking over the border en route to the Tree of Life. Though Mama Binturong managed to lure the Night Pride away, Ono suspected deception, and so, the Lion Guard was able to intercept Chuluun, Makucha, and Ora before they could harm the queen.[4]

Makucha's army's attack on Varya

I gotcha now!
―Chuluun attacks Feliks, Pasha, and Polina[src]

One day, a tiger named Varya sought sanctuary at the Tree of Life for herself and her three cubs. Before she could enter the mountain pass, Makucha's army attacked them. Before the army could harm the tiger family, the Lion Guard and the Night Pride arrived and drove them off.[5]

Makucha's army's sunset attack

You and the Lion Guard handle Ora. The Night Pride will take the leopards.

One morning, Makucha's army attacked the Tree of Life's territory, only for the Lion Guard and the Night Pride to intercept them. As a battle broke out, Kion and Rani's dual leadership resulted in confusion among their allies, and the two groups only barely managed to drive away Makucha's army. Though her allies fled, Mama Binturong lingered behind and learned that the Guard and the Night Pride would be taking turns guarding the Tree of Life's territory. She then schemed with her allies to attack in-between the two group's shifts at sunset.

That evening, Makucha's army infiltrated the Tree of Life's territory. Ullu warned the Lion Guard about the situation, and Kion led his teammates and the Night Pride in a joint attack on the invaders. Eventually, they succeeded, and Makucha's army fled into the mountain pass.[6]

Battle for the Tree of Life

I don't know about you two, but I'm almost ready to give up.
―Chuluun to Makucha and Ora[src]

One day, Makucha's army managed to sneak into the Tree of Life's territory due to Ullu falling asleep and began chasing some nearby animals. Just in time, the Lion Guard approached and drove the invaders away. Later, Mama Binturong recruited new allies for her army, and they all launched an attack on the Tree of Life. In the middle of the battle, Kion used the Roar of the Elders to sweep Makucha's army into a tornado and send them far away from the Tree of Life.[7]

Physical characteristics

It's a big cat with white fur.
―Anga on Chuluun[src]

Snow leopards are moderately sized and sleek. Because of their pale fur, they can blend in with snow. Their pelts sport gray spots and stripes, and their chests and paws are white. They can have blue eyes.[1]

Sociocultural characteristics

Snow leopards are able to blend in with their surroundings and leave light tracks. However, they can be spotted if they walk on terrain that is not snow. Snow leopards are known to hunt red pandas.[1]
