History

Ora's attack on the Lion Guard

It is a dragon! A Komodo dragon!
―Ono on Ora[src]
Dragon152

Upon reaching Dragon Island, the Lion Guard attempted to cross a land bridge to the island, only to be stopped by an old civet. The civet warned them that the island was inhabited by dragons, but they brushed off his warnings and proceeded to the island. Before long, Ora approached the Guard, and Ono identified him as a Komodo dragon, warning his teammates that a Komodo dragon's bite was venomous.

As Ora attacked Bunga, two more Komodo dragons arrived to help him take on the Lion Guard. Impatient, Kion used the Roar of the Elders to blow the Komodo dragons away. In doing so, he inadvertently created a tidal wave that decimated Dragon Island and beached a dolphin named Lumba-Lumba.

While the Lion Guard worked to return Lumba-Lumba to the ocean, a wave swept Ora and his friends back to shore. Seeing Lumba-Lumba's prone position, they resolved to eat her, but the Lion Guard jumped to her defense. After defeating the Komodo dragons, the Lion Guard readied to leave the island, and Kion used the Roar to part the sea and make a path to the mainland. The Guard fled along the path, with the Komodo dragons pursuing them. Once they had reached the mainland, Kion stopped roaring, and the Komodo dragons were swallowed up by the ocean.

Eventually, Ora got swept to the mainland. There, he was approached by Makucha, who recruited him to follow the Lion Guard to the Tree of Life and get revenge.[1]

Makucha's army's arrival at the Tree of Life

Besides, it was just two leopards and a Komodo dragon. No big deal.
Baliyo on Makucha's army[src]

Eventually, Ora and his newfound allies, Makucha and Chuluun, reached the mountain pass that led to the Tree of Life. Though Ora could not detect the Lion Guard's scent, Makucha and Chuluun assured him that they had traveled through the pass. Makucha attempted to take charge of the group, but both Chuluun and Ora protested, with Ora pointing out that he could disable his companions with his venom if he so chose. Overhearing the army's threats, Ullu the owl flew off to inform the Night Pride.

Patience447

Shortly afterward, the Night Pride attacked Makucha's army and defeated them easily, as they did not work well together. After the fight, the Lion Guard approached, and Baliyo mentioned that the Night Pride had fought off two leopards and a Komodo dragon. Realizing that Makucha's army had followed them to the Tree of Life, Kion came clean to the Night Pride's leader, Rani. She, in turn, accused him of having led an army of predators to the Tree of Life's borders. Apologizing, Kion offered the Lion Guard's services to the Night Pride, but Queen Janna implored him to focus on his healing.

That night, Chuluun led the army in another failed attack on the Tree of Life. Afterward, Ora resolved to lead the next mission. Together, he, Makucha, and Chuluun infiltrated the Tree of Life by the light of day and took on the Night Pride. During the battle, Ora managed to bite Baliyo in the leg, paralyzing him. Just in time, Kion arrived to help the Night Pride, and Ora fled in fear of the Roar of the Elders.[2]

Mama Binturong's plot

So, what are we waiting for?
―Ora expresses enthusiasm for Mama Binturong's plot[src]

Ora regrouped with Makucha and Chuluun at the mountain pass. There, they were approached by a binturong named Mama Binturong, who declared herself their new leader.[2] For her first plot, she resolved to sneak into the Tree of Life by pretending to seek sanctuary from Makucha's army. While Makucha, Chuluun, and Ora chased her, she cried out for help, and the Night Pride leaped to her defense. They proceeded to defeat Makucha's army and accept Mama Binturong for healing.

After gathering intel at the Tree of Life, Mama Binturong returned to her allies and instructed them to kill Janna while she distracted the Night Pride. As Mama Binturong lured the Night Pride to her with cries for help, Makucha, Chuluun, and Ora infiltrated the Tree of Life with the intent of finishing off Janna. Before they could reach her, the Lion Guard intercepted them and fought them off.[3]

Makucha's army's attack on Varya

Ha! You missed.
―Ora taunts Anga and Ono[src]

When a tiger named Varya sought refuge at the Tree of Life, Makucha's army attacked her and her three cubs. Before the army could harm the tigers, the Lion Guard and the Night Pride arrived and fought them off.[4]

Makucha's army's sunset attack

We should attack now.
―Ora[src]
Reflection310

One morning, Makucha's army attacked the Tree of Life. Though the Night Pride arrived to challenge them, Baliyo yawned, exposing how tired they were from a night of patrolling. At that moment, the Lion Guard approached to help the Night Pride, but Kion and Rani's dual leadership caused their teammates to fight sloppily. Eventually, the two groups triumphed over Makucha's army, who fled the area. Mama Binturong, however, lingered to spy on her enemies and learned that the Lion Guard was planning to patrol the Tree of Life during the daytime so that the Night Pride could get some rest.

Hoping to take advantage of the Lion Guard and Night Pride's changing shifts, Mama Binturong instructed her allies to attack the Tree of Life at sunset. As the army began their assault, Ullu warned the Lion Guard, and Kion led both the Guard and the Night Pride into battle against the invaders. In the ensuing fight, Ora managed to bite and paralyze Beshte, but he was ultimately defeated by Bunga's stink. His teammates were likewise defeated, and they fled the Tree of Life's territory.[5]

Battle for the Tree of Life

Dragons, with me!
―Ora rallies his minions[src]

One day, Makucha's army snuck into the Tree of Life's territory due to Ullu falling asleep. Before they could harm anyone, the Lion Guard took over the Night Pride's shift and drove the predators away.

Triumph299

After her army's failure, Mama Binturong brought in new allies, including Ora's Komodo dragon friends. Once more, the army assaulted the Tree of Life's territory, this time targeting the tree itself. Ullu warned the Night Pride, and they rushed into the Tree of Life, intent on stopping the invaders. However, Ora and his friends pushed a boulder into the Tree of Life's entrance, trapping the Night Pride inside. They then joined their allies in attacking some nearby animals.

Eventually, the Lion Guard arrived and began to fight Makucha's army. Kion himself joined in, using the Roar of the Elders to defeat the invaders and remove the boulder at the Tree of Life's entrance. Finally, he swept Makucha's army into a tornado and sent them far away from the Tree of Life.[6]

Sociocultural characteristics
