~ The original Rudy reassuring his clone. |
Rex' (formerly Rudolph) "Rudy" Conners, better known as Robot, is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Angstrom Levy) of the Image Comics series Invincible, and its animated adaptation of the same name.
He was initially assumed to be a robot superhero with advanced artificial intelligence who leads the Teen Team. However, it was later revealed that Robot is actually a machine controlled by the mind of the genius Rudy Conners.
He is voiced by Zachary Quinto (who also portrayed Spock in the J.J. Abrams Star trek films) as the original and drone and by Ross Marquand (who voices The Immortal and Aquarus in the same series, Han Solo in Han Solo in Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars, Jack Reacher in Robot Chicken and portrayed Aaron in The Walking Dead) as Rudy Connors.
Appearance
Rudy
Robot's clone has the appearance of a tall young man with an athletic build, tanned skin, shoulder-length auburn hair, and dark green eyes. He also grows a beard later in the comics.
Robot suit/drone
His robotic drone, and later suit, is a tall, bronze-colored machine with segmented limbs, a robust chest cavity, and a slender pelvic region. The most noticeable feature of the robot is its human skull-shaped head with glowing green eyes and a cylinder on the upper back of its head.
Personality
At first glance, Robot appears stoic and reserved, his robotic appearance reflecting his detached demeanor. He often approaches situations with a logical and analytical mindset, prioritizing efficiency and pragmatism above emotional considerations. This initial impression may lead others to perceive him as cold or distant, but beneath the surface lies a deeply conflicted individual grappling with complex emotions.
Despite his mechanical exterior, Robot harbors a deep longing for connection and acceptance. He struggles with feelings of isolation and alienation, yearning to find his place in the world among humans despite his artificial nature.
Throughout the series, Robot's personality undergoes significant development as he grapples with moral dilemmas and wrestles with his own identity. His actions are often driven by a desire to do what he believes is right, even if it means making difficult and morally ambiguous decisions, highlighting the complexities of his nature.
