~ Perez questioning the words of the second Jigsaw. |
Lindsey Perez is a supporting character in the Saw franchise. As a FBI agent alongside her partner Peter Strahm, the two is assigned to investigate the Jigsaw murder case. She serves as the tritagonist of Saw IV and a major character in Saw VI.
Biography
Saw IV
Perez first arrived with Strahm at Allison Kerry's crime scene. With information provided by Kerry before her murder stating that two officers might be in danger, she and Strahm performed a thorough investigation concerning the disappearances of Daniel Rigg and Mark Hoffman. As they followed the trail of Rigg's tests, it became apparent at one of the locations they came across that they themselves were being targeted by Jigsaw as Kerry had warned.
At the last building that Rigg had been at, Perez nearly escaped death when Strahm pulled her out of the firing path of a harpoon (which in turn hit a crime scene photographer). Minutes afterwards, they enter a room where they're confronted with a Billy doll and a tape meant for her. As she leaned in to hear what the voice was saying, the Billy doll's face exploded, severely injuring her face and neck with shrapnel.
She was quickly rushed off to the hospital in critical condition.
Saw V
It's implied that she had died from her injuries, her last words being "Lieutenant Hoffman," leading to Strahm's initial suspicion regarding Hoffman.
Saw VI
Perez was revealed to be alive, though prominently scarred, and back on the Jigsaw investigation. Dismissive of Strahm being Jigsaw's accomplice, she and Dan Erickson thoroughly investigated abnormalities in evidence found that implicated Strahm (such as the type of knife used to cut out pieces of skin from Jigsaw victims), and a distorted tape made by Hoffman years back that went along with his own trap.
As soon as the tape was unscrambled, Hoffman quickly attacked, slashing Erickson's throat, using Sashi as a human shield against Perez's gunshots, and fatally stabbing Perez. When Hoffman demanded to know who else was aware of his secret, she simply told him "everyone". Hoffman, thinking she was decieving him, stabs her again, killing her. Her body, and everything else in the audio lab was set on fire to destroy evidence.
It's hinted at in an additional scene at the end that Corbett had earlier informed the two agents about how she wasn't supposed to trust Hoffman, which more than likely furthered Perez's growing suspicion of him.
Trivia
- Agent Perez carried a Glock 19 as her sidearm.
- A scene after the credits of Saw VI shows that Amanda Young went to the cell of Corbett Denlon inside the abandoned Gideon Meatpacking Plant. Thereby she warned Corbett not to trust the one who saved her, knowing that it would be Hoffman who would free her shortly afterwards. In doing so, she wanted to take revenge on Hoffman as he had written a blackmailing letter to her. While it was nowhere confirmed, it can be assumed that she informed the police or the FBI, which likely furthered the agents' suspicion of Hoffman.
