Hideyoshi Nagachika, also known as Hide, is the tritagonist of the Tokyo Ghoul franchise.
He is a normal human and the best friend of Ken Kaneki. He later became a part-time worker at the CCG, being investigation assistant for both Koutarou Amon and Akira Mado. In Tokyo Ghoul: Re, he became a Ghoul and aided Kaneki in his fight against V, under the alias, Scarecrow.
He is voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Clifford Chapin in the English version of the anime.
Appearance
Hideyoshi is a young man of average height with short, messy, dirty blonde hair with dark roots and olive eyes.
Personality
Hide has a carefree attitude, almost always friendly and joyful. He is Kaneki's only friend and doesn't seem to share relationships with other people, despite his appearance. He told Kaneki that he hung out with Nishiki, he believed him to be toxic and thought he might hate him. He also loves to work hard and likes to find new interests as it gives him a purpose to keep trying out new things.
Hide also has a strong sense of achieving his goals as he will always stick by them regardless of what happens showing his determined nature.
He always looks out for Kaneki, trying to encourage him to be more outgoing and worries if he doesn't contact him in a while. Hide is the complete opposite of Kaneki as he's the outgoing type as Kaneki is a loner. As the series goes on, Hide's loyalty to Kaneki is shown as he risks his life multiple times just to help him out, showing how selfless Hide is.
Though he is loud and outspoken, Hide is usually found keeping most of his concerns to himself to not trouble those surrounding him.
Just like his best friend, Hide has a habit of placing his hand on his face when he is nervous or is lying.
Power and Abilities
- Keen Intellect: Hide has proved to be very perceptive and observant, being able to distinguish the difference between the two Rabbit ghouls, while also noticing the changes and habits of people.
