Biography
Early Life
Saga Anderson is the daughter of Freya Anderson and an unnamed father, who is theorized to be the enigmatic entity known as Warlin Door. Being the granddaughter of rockstar Tor Anderson, she received the family seer abilities, gifting her telepathy and using her mind to keep things in order. However, Freya discouraged her daughter from using it, presumably due to her falling out with Tor and leaving home. At some point, she married a man named David Woods and later gave birth to their daughter Logan. In 2019, Saga joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation and partnered with Alex Casey. She was able to solve numerous cases with her seer powers, thus gaining fame within the bureau.
Quantum Break
In 2016, a video shows Saga investigating the case of Alan Wake along with FBI agent Alex Casey. Although this is set in a alternate timeline, its a hint to what the story of Alan Wake II would be.
Control (AWE)
Although not mentioned, it is shown that Alex Casey is investigating the case of Alan Wake, who the reports found Casey similar to Wake’s bestselling novels of the same name, but it’s connection is unclear. It is possible that Saga was involved in the case, prior to the events 2023.
Alan Wake II
In 2023, Saga and Casey travel to Bright Falls, Washington to investigate the town's ritualistic murders orchestrated by a murder cult called the Cult of the Tree. The two agents are called to Cauldron Lake to speak with Deputies Mulligan and Thornton, as another murder scene was discovered - that of former FBI agent Robert Nightingale. While examining his corpse, Anderson notices his body is bloated from being submerged in water and follows his tracks to see where he came from. She finds a manuscript which details Saga and Casey's investigation, as well there willingness to keep going despite the possibility it could hurt them. Despite her concerns that the killers are behind the page, Anderson continues on the investigation and uses her mind place to learn that Nightingale has something implanted in his chest.
While returning to Bright Falls to speak with Sheriff Tim Breaker, Saga learns that Casey knowns of Nightingale, as he disappeared thirteen years prior during his search for a writer known as Alan Wake. Once back in town, Anderson speaks with the Bookers (who witnessed Nightingale's ritualistic murders) at the Oh Deer Diner, and is left befuddled when waitress Rose Marigold explains that Saga left Bright Falls after Logan's death. Despite her confusion, Saga meets with Casey and Breaker to continue the examination of Nightingale's corpse, discovering another manuscript page when removing from his chest. The page notes of Nightingale's revival and Saga battling him with light in the autopsy room, which happens on cue when Breaker mysteriously disappears.
Using the advice from the page, Saga defeats Nightingale before he vanishes from the room and returns to Cauldron Lake to pursue him. During her pursuit, Anderson finds more manuscript pages that explain that she will open an overlap by finding Nightingale's heart and using it at the Witch's Ladle. Inside the overlap, the FBI agent hears Logan's cries moments before she is attacked by Nightingale, who she proceeds to kill. Upon returning to Cauldron Lake, she encounters Alan Wake, the writer who disappeared thirteen years as well and informs him of the situation. Taking him to the police station, Anderson and Casey learn from Wake that he escaped the Dark Place, but his doppelganger has edited his novel Return, escaped as well and is planning on using the clicker to see his ending comes to fruition.
With manuscript pages she gets from Alan, Saga decides to travel to Watery to see her supposed home at the Watery Lighthouse Trailer Park and retrieve the clicker from the cult. In the neighboring town, she meets the twins Ilmo (who the player can meet during "The Heart" chapter) and Jaakko Koskela, who are also affected by the story as well. Using this, the Koskela's reveal that the key to her home is located at their amusement park. She is able to retrieve them battling more taken along the way, but encounters Odin and Tor Anderson and learns of her relation to them. At the trailer park, she finds a photo of Odin and Tor with the cult alongside a article telling of Logan's drowning.
While trying to call her husband, Anderson is distracted when seeing Deputy Mulligan from afar, learning that he and Thornton are both cultist and taken. Saga's pursuit brings her to opening a second overlap, where she kills the taken deputies and retrieves the clicker. While in the overlap, she speaks with Alan despite him seemingly appearing to be in the Dark Place. Returning to Bright Falls, Saga finds that the cult have attacked the police station to kill Wake. She stops Ilmo (who and Jaakko are revealed to be the cult's leaders) from murdering the writer, but is taken off the case when the Federal Bureau of Control arrive and capture Alan and the Koskelas.
Despite being taken off the case, Anderson travels to the Valhalla Nursing Home to get answers from Odin and Tor. However, nursing home inhabitant Cynthia Weaver reveals herself to be taken, intending to lure Tor into another overlap to kill him. After speaking with Odin on her heritage, Rose on what's happening at the nursing home and the janitor Ahti, Anderson opens the overlap by using the vinyl record of "Anger's Remorse". After defeating Cynthia and rescuing Tor, Anderson travels to the police station and helps Casey and FBC agent Kiran Estevez restore power. In the prison cells, Anderson witnesses Alan turn into Scratch and kill Jaakko, and is forced to fight him before he leaves.
Returning to Estevez, Saga is given access to FBC intel and learns of Kiran's experience with the Dark Presence when she investigated the Lake House. Believing Alan is still trapped in the Dark Place, Saga has the Anderson Brothers create a new song to summon Wake at Cauldron Lake. However, Saga realizes that Alan was simply transported to Cauldron Lake two days prior (when she encountered him after stopping Nightingale) and that Scratch is Wake possessed by the Dark Presence. Upon Scratch's arrival, Saga uses the FBC containment machine to trap him, thus freeing Alan. However, the Dark Presence proceeds to posses Casey, having injured him previously as a contingency in case this happened.
The possessed Casey then throws Saga into the lake, thus sending her into the Dark Place where she's tormented by the Dark Presence over her insecurities. With enough resolve and reminder of her accomplishments, Anderson is able to escape and reach the Dark Place's version of New York. She is contacted by a woman (later revealed to be Alan's wife Alice), who leads the agents into finding the clicker and the bullet of light. Alice later contacts Anderson on Alan needing help to write the ending, as he's been unable to conclude the story. Speaking with Wake in her mind place, the two co-author the ending to fit with the horror story of Return but saving Logan's life in the process.
In the writer's room, Saga uses the clicker to rewrite the ending and free Casey from Scratch, who in turn re-posses Alan once again. With the bullet of light, Anderson shoots Alan, thus killing Scratch and freeing the writer from the Dark Presence's influence. After shooting Alan, Saga attempts to contact Logan.
The Final Draft
The events of the final draft act as the restart of the events of Alan Wake II, but with Alan aware of what will come by its ending. After shooting Alan with the bullet of light, Saga is able to contact Logan, thus confirming that Logan was saved from her original fate.
