Mediaș (メディアシュ Mediashu?) (English pronunciation: Mediash) is a Principality of Zeon's military base in the ONA Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance.
Overview
Located near the eponymous town in Sibiu County, central Romania, Mediaș is one of many regional military bases set up by Zeon's European Armed Forces during the One Year War. Its closest Zeon facility was the Brigade Support Command's Recycling Centre, which is 20 kilometers away[1].
With the major Earth Federation Forces counterattack against Zeon's stronghold Odessa imminent, Zeon's regional bases such as Mediaș were suddenly under threat as the EFF's RX-78(G)E Gundam EX and RGM-79 GMs has been deployed to systematically eliminate Zeon's military presence in Eastern Europe, particularly in Romania where if offered the shortest route for the EFF to attack Odessa.
History
One Year War
The Zeon Armed Force established Mediaș's and many other military base across Romania to reinforce their presence in Europe after the First Landing Operation, which were considered safe until the Earth Federation conducted search-and-destroy mission using their newly-developed mobile suits to root out all regional Zeon bases and targets and to provide a clear path for their Odessa Campaign. No sooner had Iria Solari and her comrades found refuge in the Recycling Centre after the annihilation of Cluj-Napoca base and the Romanian Mixed Mobile Brigade Headquarter, Solari sensed the distant Mediaș military base was in danger and she rushed to the lookout with a pair of binoculars. Terrified by the sight of Mediaș base went up in fumes, and the sound of Gundam EX's beam saber destroying the base, Solari then told her comrades the Mediaș base was lost and they must do something immediately to protect everyone at the Recycling Centre and to minimize any further loss.[2] With the help her friend Alfee Zydos (Gearhead) and the resident mechanic corps, Solari and LeSean were once again battle ready to repel E.F.F. and Gundam's attack with two reassembled Zaku IIs with salvaged parts at the Centre, in order to avoid the same fate suffered by the Mediaș base earlier.
