Loft (ロフト, Rofuto^?) is a character featured in the ONA Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance.^[1]

Background

Loft is the commander of Midnighters Squadron, an elite Zeon mobile suit unit assigned to the Eastern European front during the One Year War. He and his squad mates pilot the MS-07B-3 Gouf Custom.

Personality & Character

As MS squadron leader, Loft is well respected by his teammates, evidenced by the seamless teamwork in carrying out risky night time scouting missions deep in enemy territories^[1], as well as the well-coordinated effort with Iria Solari in stopping the intruding E.F.F. Assault Guntanks and GMs during the defense of Odessa's spaceport.^[2] Like Solari, Loft leads by example and he never shy away from leading the attack or protecting his teammates. He is also level-headed and assertive, prefers to make the correct battlefield decisions by firmly but politely declines Maj. Ronet's request to escort the Major's convoy to the HLV launch sites, stating that repelling Guntanks from overwhelming the city and bombarding the spaceport as Midnighter's first priority.^[2]

Loft takes the responsibility of protecting his squadron seriously and is shocked to witness his teammate Anessa's death at the hands of Gundam EX. Blinded by rage, Loft charges his MS towards the enemy and almost throws his life away had it not been stopped by Solari's intervention. With the latter's persuasion, Loft quickly regains his levelheadedness and let Solari to deal with the Gundam and he continues to stem the flow of E.F.F.'s mobile weapons, while keeping the opportunity to avenge his teammate's death alive when the moment is right.

Skills & Abilities

Loft processes excellent MS piloting skill, and utilizes the performance of his Gouf Custom to the maximum by flying mid-air scouting missions at night, as well as the ability to eliminate enemy's mobile weapons with quick thinking and acrobatic maneuvers such as sliding towards Assault Guntank's undercarriage and to fire the Gatling Gun at point blank range.^[2]

• Similar to Iria Solari of the Red Wolf Squadron, Loft's pilot suit features a gold-embossed Greek alphabet α (alpha) on his left collar to signify his status as the Midnighters' squadron leader.

• Due to animation error, Loft's collar identification on his pilot suit displays First Lieutenant Kneeland LeSean.^[2]
• Loft's English voice actor, Maxwell Powers, also voiced Ony Kasuga in the same series^[3]. His Japanese voice actor, Daiki Hamano, also voiced Dante Mogro in Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS.
