Reid Ghelfi (リード・ゲルフィ（チャブス）, Rīdo Gerufi (Chabusu)^?) is a character of Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance.^[2]

Background Information

Ghelfi was a member and second-in-command of Red Wolf Squadron, a Zeon mobile suit under the command of Cpt. Iria Solari and together they achieved great success in the early stage of the One Year War, in which they destroyed three E.F.S.F. fleets in the Battle of Loum. Ghelfi was Solari's longest-serving subordinate and continued to fight alongside her throughout Zeon's war of independence.^[4] As Zeon's Earth Invasion went into stalemate, Ghelfi and his Red Wolf squad mates were re-assigned to the 1st MS Company, 7th Battalion of the Mixed Mobile Brigade in Romania,^[5] where they land their support as one of partnered units to the Stein Battalion in the recapture operation of Cluj-Napoca military base from the Federal Ground Force on November 6, UC 0079.^[2]

Personality & Character

Knowns as Chubs by his squad mates and peers, Ghelfi was a jolly and carefree mood-maker who maintained a sense of humor even in tense situations. On the battlefield, Ghelfi is somewhat complacent with his ability and Zeon's technological superiority over the Earth Federation Forces and could be prone to enemy's ambush at times. Chubs has been bailed out and admonished by Solari on occasions.^[2]

Skills & Abilities

Ghelfi is an ace pilot with outstanding skills. He is experienced in aerial battles as evidenced by downing EFF's FF-S3 Saberfish jet fighter with his Zaku's leg-mounted missiles.^[2]

History

One Year War

European Front

On November 6, U.C. 0079, Ghelfi and his Red Wolf squad mates received distress call from Maj. Joshua Stein for immediate combat support to his beleaguered Battalion when it was ambushed by the EFF during the Cluj-Napoca base recapture operation. Together with the Salamanders Squadron, The Red Wolves promptly dispatched from the Gaw carriers and landed on Cluj-Napoca to quell the EFF attack, result in the base's return to Zeon control, but it ended abruptly in the early morning of November 7, UC 0079, when the EFF staged a surprise raid spearheaded by RX-78(G)E Gundam EX. Accompanying Solari upon facing the enemy's newest mobile suit, Ghelfi and his Zaku II rushed toward the Gundam but was shot by the latter's beam rifle though the cockpit, killing Ghelfi instantly and his Zaku destroyed.
