The Weevil is a passive insect found commonly in the Grasslands biome. The Weevil is identified by its black color, long snout, and snorting sounds. It is slightly larger than a Gnat and smaller than the player. They have a lethal infected variant found primarily in the Haze.
Behavior
Weevils roam aimlessly on the ground and rarely cease moving. They move quickly compared to other creatures. They are attracted to Mushrooms and will make their way towards any dropped by the player.
Interaction With Player
The Weevil is passive toward the player and will retreat when attacked. They can also be attracted by player dropped mushroom-items, namely Mushrooms, Mushroom Chunks, Mushroom Slurry, and Toadstool Chunks. They will eat these items and the slurries can be used to tame them.
Interaction With Other Creatures
Weevils are actively hunted by Black Worker Ants and Red Worker Ants and will be chased great distances. Additionally, Lawn Mites attack Weevils, though much less aggressively than ants. Weevils display their normal fleeing behavior when hunted or attacked. They remain passive toward other creatures.
Taming
Weevils can be tamed with Mushroom Slurry and are much easier to tame than Aphids due to the fact that they do not retreat from the player or other creatures. The player should still be careful that no ants are near the Weevil while it feeds. When tamed, it gives a bonus that lowers thirst drain rate. It also allows the player to store items up to 10 slots and can be used to help you ferry items across the terrain.
Advanced Loot Table
This is a more advanced covering of the loot-table of Weevil. Each item has an independent chance and count, in which the chance is the chance it can drop and the count is the amount of items that have that chance. If a count larger than 1 is in one section, then each item has an independent chance from one another (EX: Instead of getting say 2 of a resource, you can get 1 with a 70% chance and another with an additional 70% chance). In terms of Stealing, it can take one item from every section of the loot table, so even if a item count is say 5, the player will only steal one from that section.
Creature Loot Tables also tend to have large amounts of 1% items, which is intended to make stealing more rare items harder, as the player is more likely to steal the large amounts of 1% items than a singular 50% item.
Note: For consistency sake, all duplicate categories have a multiplier next to them, but function as unique loot types when say using Stealing.

Strategy
An extremely easy to kill creature, Weevils hold very little ways to defend themselves when attacked. The player can even exploit this by luring a large cluster of Weevils using dropped mushroom item, and kill them all for an abundance of Raw Weevil Meat.
Trivia
- The Weevil in game appears to be based off of the Black Vine Weevil.
