The Firefly is a flying insect found exclusively in the Flooded Zone at night and sparsely in the upper Flower Bed. They drop many resources useful for light-emitting objects. These include the Firefly Head Lamp, and the Firefly Hanging Lantern.

Behavior

Fireflies spawn at night and fly at high altitudes, normally far from the player. They're normally passive to the player and will form swarms in the sky. If they are attacked by the player in any way, they will fly to the player and attack by expelling Glow Goo from their backsides. They will also all attack the player if only one Firefly is attacked, so attack fireflies when they are alone or be ready for a fight. During the day, they fly up to the houses gutters and stay there until night falls, in which they will fly back to their said locations.

Interaction With Player

Fireflies are neutral and will not bother the player unless attacked. If one Firefly is attacked all others in the area will also become hostile to the player.

Interaction With Other Creatures

Fireflies fly in high altitudes and rarely come into conflict with other creatures. They, in short, don't seek out any specific creatures.

Advanced Loot Table

This is a more advanced covering of the loot-table of Firefly. Each item has an independent chance and count, in which the chance is the chance it can drop and the count is the amount of items that have that chance. If a count larger than 1 is in one section, then each item has an independent chance from one another (EX: Instead of getting say 2 of a resource, you can get 1 with a 70% chance and another with an additional 70% chance). In terms of Stealing, it can take one item from every section of the loot table, so even if a item count is say 5, the player will only steal one from that section.

Creature Loot Tables also tend to have large amounts of 1% items, which is intended to make stealing more rare items harder, as the player is more likely to steal the large amounts of 1% items than a singular 50% item.

Note: For consistency sake, all duplicate categories have a multiplier next to them, but function as unique loot types when say using Stealing.

Strategy

The Firefly is a difficult creature to attack and must be fought with caution. When attacking it, due to them often flying, a Crow Crossbow or Insect Bow is highly recommended to easily kill them. Their attacks are unblockable through Tools that aren't shields, so it is either recommended to run backwards or use a shield like the Weevil Shield to block the attack. A Red Ant Club is a highly effective early-game melee choice. It is recommended to attempt to lure each individual away from groups as they will swarm the player if one is attack near other Fireflies.
