Letter (手紙, Tegami) is the sixth episode of GARO: Makai Flash Knight.
Synopsis
An elderly couple is poisoning wayward travelers to feed the tree Horror Erinnerung in order to bring back their dead son every night when the moon is out. Rei arrives and must fight the Horror to get the couple to face the harsh reality.
Summary
Masato Shonai, Osamu Shonai and Naoe Shonai have dinner in the moonlight as Erinnerung stand tall in the garden.
Rei Suzumura visits the Saejima Estate and duels with Kouga Saejima. Rei asks Kouga if Kaoru knows about how the Seal of Destruction drains the bearer every time they summon their Makai Armor. Kaoru greets Rei. Gonza and Leo greet the trio in the dining room. Leo asks Rei how Colt is as Gonza states that he is going to prepare dinner, while avoiding help from Kaoru. Rei declines.
Silva feels the presence of a horror. A man takes photographs of Erinnerung as Osamu and Naoe Shonai invite him inside for dinner. They tell the photographer that Masato will be coming home soon as they give him a poison tea and bury his lifeless body by the trunk of Erinnerung. They repeat the act with a laborer, an office lady and two schoolgirls. The mirage of Masato returns in the evening, but it takes the wrong food in error. In the morning, Osamu looks at a photograph of Masato and then at Erinnerung as he remembers seeing Masatos dead body. They found the seed of Erinnerung amongst Masatos belongings.
Rei finds Erinnerung but is greeted by Naoe, who invites him inside. Rei turns away as Naoe poisons his tea. He tells Osamu and Naoe that he is doing his job as he batles Erinnerung, who projects Masato. Rei tells Osamu and Naoe to realise that the projection is not Masato. The mirage starts to fall apart as Rei defeats Erinnerung. Osamu and Naoe beg that Rei kills them. He rejects their plea, stating that he only kills Horrors.
The next day, Osamu reads a letter Masao wrote on the battlefield about how he found a seed and missed his mothers bad meat and potatoes. They remember planting the seed for Erinnerung and how it first projected Masato. In the evening, they reminisce before committing suicide by poison.
