Draq

Draq is the pilot of the Mighty Typhoon, and works with Roger Buster in their galactic delivery service. He is a big F-Zero fan who has long dreamed of becoming a pilot, and achieved his wish by F-Zero X.

History

Before F-Zero X

Draq had worked with Roger Buster as galactic delivery men, although Draq piloted the transport ship.

Earlier in the same year of the F-Zero X Grand Prix, Draq and Roger had come across two machines intended for an unknown participant of the F-Zero X Grand Prix. However, no one had come to claim the machines. Having wanted to be a pilot in the F-Zero Grand Prix for some time, Draq convinced Roger to enter the machines in the upcoming race.

F-Zero X

F-Zero X US Manual
Age: 136

Draq works with Roger Buster, and is a big fan of F-ZERO. Driving in the Grand Prix has been his life-long dream.

Note: Depending on how the Main Universe timeline is viewed (Stewart Theory - Using Dr. Stewart's age from SNES to X/GX and his 11 years of experience by GX as a way to connect SNES, X, and GX), Draq's life long dream may seem a bit illogical.

Draq (English Translation by Sidier): He's the work pal of Roger Buster, and he normally takes care of piloting the cargo ship. He's a big fan of F-Zero and he'd dreamed of running in a circuit for a long time. And so, when he found an F-Zero machine amongst the cargo, he was driven by a "bad" impulse.

F-Zero GX

Unable to find the recipients of the machines, Draq and Roger once again entered the F-Zero Grand Prix the following year after X.

Draq works with Roger Buster, managing a portion of their cargo-shipping business. He is an absolutely gigantic fan of F-ZERO and has dreamed of entering the circuit himself since he was small.

Roughly one year ago, Draq and Roger came across two F-ZERO machines tagged with an unknown recipient and no return address. Draq quickly convinced Roger to let them enter machines in the last Grand Prix, telling him that they would surely be recognized and the rightful owners would come forward to claim them. No one claimed the machines, however, and the two partners have decided to try again.

Draq hopes to win a Grand Prix himself before the owners come to claim the machines-- then he could use the prize money to buy a craft of his own.[1]

Note: Depending on how the Main Universe timeline is viewed (Stewart Theory), "since he was small" may also seem a bit illogical.

DeepL Translation: He is a business associate of Roger Buster, usually piloting the transport ship. He is a fan of F-Zero and has long dreamed of driving in the race circuit. One year ago, there were two F-Zero machines in the shipment that had been unclaimed. Draq persuaded his buddy, Roger, that the true receivers of the machines would surely come forward if they saw the machines in the race. And so Draq would participate in the F-Zero X Grand Prix, with his wish fulfilled. However, the receiver has yet to appear, so he and Roger have entered in the F-Zero GX Grand Prix this time as well. Draq’s goal is to win the Grand Prix before the receiver shows up, and to get his own F-Zero machine instead of using someone else's.

Upon beating any Grand Prix on Master mode with the Mighty Typhoon, it will unlock a special video for Draq, which also features his theme song.

Draq's Master Pilot video is a mix of a 2D comic-like style with 3D CGI models. Draq's Mighty Typhoon is seen competing in an F-Zero race, catching up to James McCloud's Little Wyvern. Draq knocks Mighty Gazelle's Red Gazelle aside at some point, and gets closer to the finish line. However, the Mighty Typhoon fails to reach it, having run out of energy as the Little Wyvern takes the victory. Draq goes for a punch at the screen, as the video ends up revealing that he was merely playing an F-Zero game on the orange Nintendo GameCube he has. The screen turns out to be the TV.

Trivia

  • Despite Mainverse F-Zero taking place in the 26th century, Draq is seen with a Nintendo GameCube in his possession during his F-Zero GX Master Pilot video. It may just be a reference to the fact that F-Zero GX was released on that console, although pilots being interested in older things is not a new concept.
  • Although Draq's pilot bios seem to make sense, they don't quite add up if someone were to try and connect all of the Mainverse F-Zero together. Problems mostly stem from the statements of Draq wanting to be a pilot since he was small, which is already an issue considering he is over 100 years old.
    • Assuming someone would want to go with Stewart Theory (2560 - SNES, 2570 - X, 2571 - GX, etc), there is no way F-Zero would have lasted that long ago.
    • However, if one chooses to regard this altogether and not think too deeply about it, it probably would not be a call to alarm.
