Etherion (エーテリオン Ēterion?) is a function of the Edens Zero that allows the ship to travel through time and different Universes.[1] It is the ship's most highly classified secret, also known as Code 3173 (コード３１７３ Kōdo 3173?).[2]
Description
Etherion is an amplified form of Rebecca Bluegarden's time-travel Ether, which was extracted from her dead body and loaded onto the Edens Zero after she and Shiki Granbell were sent to the year X20492 in Universe 3173.[1] It is sealed within Rebecca's B-Cube, which was chosen for its strong emotional connection to her.[3] It enables the Edens Zero to freely travel through time and other Universes.[4]
Unlocking Etherion requires the authentication of all Four Shining Stars, who are not permitted to disclose any knowledge of it to the rest of the crew, including Shiki.[5] However, they wrongly believe Etherion to be a weapon according to the limited information given to them by Ziggy.[6] Witch Regret speculates that the Edens One has its own version of Etherion after witnessing the destruction of many Dragons left in its wake at Dragonfall;[7] this is proven false when Clown attempts to steal Etherion for the Edens One's use.[8]
Trivia
- Etherion shares its name with the Magic Weapon and the Ultimate Magic from both of Hiro Mashima's previous manga series, Fairy Tail and Rave Master, respectively.
- Code 3173 is also a reference to Rave Master, being the experiment number for Elie as well the original basis for her name.
