"Jaded" is the second segment of the ninety-third episode of Big City Greens.
Synopsis
Feeling overshadowed by Jade, Gloria starts a suggestion box at the cafe to dial Jade back.
Plot
Gloria's new employee Jade has proven herself to be the ideal worker, tending to everyone's needs, cleaning messes in rapid succession, even completing some of Cricket's nonsensical duties. While Gloria is happy, she slowly begins to feel useless as all the customers seem more interested in wanting Jade to serve them rather than her. When Gramma Alice compliments Jade's resourcefulness, Gloria feels worse. She decides to find a way to get back at Jade. Cricket leaves work to visit Tilly and join her in playing pickle ball (which he learns does not feature actual pickles), but is shocked to learn that they are playing against elders Phyllis and Olga.
Tilly attempts to go easy on Phyllis and Olga, but she and Cricket quickly discover that the two elders are supremely skilled champions who really give the kids a run for their money. Their game turns into all out war with Cricket hurting his toe during the ordeal. Gloria introduces a suggestion box and puts some false ones in to try and tone down Jade's behavior. While this seems to work, Gloria finds suggestions for herself, making her feel even worse. Gloria attempts to change her behavior based on the suggestions, but gets an even worse response from customers, causing her to turn her boss title over to Jade, who becomes nervous.
Tilly decides to take over the whole game for Cricket and uses her abilities to successfully defeat Phyllis and Olga. The two elders admit that they were happy to finally be treated with respect, something that Tilly takes to heart. Gloria admits why she was acting strange to Alice who tells her that when she was complimenting Jade, she was complimenting her, because she knew that hiring her was good idea and makes her an efficient boss. Gloria rescues Jade from angry customers and awards her with an employee of the month plaque. Cricket comes in asking for free food, but Gloria orders Jade to ignore him.
