Michael Boom is a playable mascot in Crossy Road. Michael Boom is a parody of action-movie director Michael Bay, whose films are often packed with excessive explosions and fighter jets. Michael Boom is one of the three secret mascots added in the Micro Update. The mascot is currently located with the other human mascots.
Appearance
Michael Boom wears a brown coat and a grey undershirt. He also has long blonde hair, blue pants, and dark brown shoes. He is holding a detonator with a golden handle in his hand. His facial expression looks like a grimace.
Characteristics
The Crossy Road logo changes into a "Hipster Whale presents A Michael Boom film Crossy Road" logo (See gallery for image), which also changes the wording. When playing as him, shadows of fighter jets can be seen and swooshing sounds can be heard in the background. Numerous miniature explosions will randomly hit Trees and bushes, turning them black if they are struck. These explosions will also hit Cars, although nothing will happen to the cars. When the player dies, no matter how they die, a massive explosion will happen along with smaller explosions after the big one. Also as an addition to the abnormal lighting, Hipster Whale added a lens flare(sun) hitting out of the corner (refer to gallery). Many sounds, noises, and explosions will happen, causing distractions for the player. As of update 1.2.6, he will explode like the rocket truck upon death.

Spoiler Alert! |
Michael Boom cannot be unlocked by the Prize Machine because he is a secret mascot. Using a specific mascot, the player must find a rocket truck and end the run by crashing into it. Upon ending the run the rocket truck will explode. Upon death, the game will reward you with Michael Boom. The truck will only explode when jumping in it from the front, not by going backward.

Trivia
- Michael Boom is a reference to Michael Bay and his action film The Rock, or more precisely to the ending when one of the protagonists (Stanley Goodspeed, played by Nicolas Cage) sends a signal to cancel the bombardment using flares (in the hand of the character). But, the pilot of one of the planes failing to notice the signal and drops a bomb, but fortunately, it explodes far away (in the game bombs are falling only on trees).
- The fighter jets seem to be based on the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
- The text used for Crossy Road in the opening screen while playing as Michael Boom is also used in the Transformers movies, the first five of which were directed by Bay
