Elena and Sasha was an acrobat duo from Season 12 of America's Got Talent. It was eliminated in the Judge Cuts.
Background
Elena Sanders met her husband Sasha Lyutyy while on tour in 2014. Together, they developed a one-of-a-kind, dangerous perch act. They are always looking to push the boundaries of what new and feats of amazement they can achieve while performing this unique and traditional discipline.
On her own, Elena specializes in Aerial Straps & Aerial Hoop. Her other disciplines include: hula hoops, contortion, flying trapeze, and aerial rope. Elena has been touring with circuses since 2013. She had toured with: Carson and Barnes, Cole Brothers Circus and Circo Hermanos Caballero. [1]
Audition
Elena and Sasha's audition in Episode 1203 consisted of performing their perch pole act, during which Elena climbed to the top of a metal pole and spun while Sasha balanced it at his waist. Next, Elena climbed back up as Sasha balanced the pole on his forehead and spun hoops around his arms. At the top, Elena performed handstands and other acrobatic moves. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all voted "Yes", sending the duo to the Judge Cuts.
Judge Cuts
Elena and Sasha's Judge Cuts performance in Episode 1210 consisted of Sasha balancing Elena on a pole on his forehead while she shot an arrow at a target with a bow with her feet while her back was bent over her head. Heidi Klum gave the act a standing ovation. The duo's performance was not strong enough for the judges to send it to the Quarterfinals, eliminating it from the competition.
