Pets

Pets are creatures in Adopt Me! that were released during the Pets Update on June 15, 2019. Pets will usually follow the player, can be looked after similarly to babies, and can be aged up, allowing them to learn new tricks. Hatching eggs is the main way of obtaining pets, while players can also purchase specific pets using Robux or event currencies. Pets can also be made Neon or Mega Neon if four of the same pet are combined when they are all Full Grown or Luminous.

Players who enter the Nursery for the first time will receive a free Starter Egg from Sir Woofington, which only hatches into a Cat or a Dog.

Types of Pets

Rarity

There are 5 main rarities in which pets, just like other items, are classified in: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Ultra-Rare, and Legendary.

Another less common pet rarity is Event; these pets are temporary pets that are removed from all inventories after a period of time. The three event pets as of now are Scoob, Pumpkin (Pet), and 2D Kitty. Event pets age as fast as common pets, which are classified with common pets in the inventory. Although the Pet Rock was a temporary pet that was removed from inventories after a period of time, it was an uncommon pet.

Pet subcategories

There are many more categories pets can also be classed in, such as Robux Pets, event-exclusive pets, and limited egg pets. These categories indicate the source or method of obtaining the pets. Players can only get a Safari Pet like a Flamingo from the Safari Eggs; this rule applies to every other limited egg.

Lure Pets

Pets that can be obtained from placing bait into the Box Lure or Cozy Home Lure: Christmas Pudding Pup, Flaming Zebra, Ash Zebra, Magma Snail, Magma Moose, Toasty Red Panda, Burning Bunny, Flaming Fox, Wildfire Hawk, Volcanic Rhino, Winter Fawn, Winter Doe, Winter Buck, Frozen Penguin, Icy Porcupine, Snowy Mammoth, Shiver Wolf, and Subzero Scorpion, and Frostbite Bear. Types of bait include the Campfire Cookie, Burnt Bites Bait, Baked Alaska Bait, Christmas Pudding Pup Bait, Winter Deer Bait, Ice Soup Bait, Shiver Cone Bait, and Subzero Popsicle Bait.

Ages & Tricks

Once the egg hatches, players can continue fulfilling its needs to age it up. Each stage of the pet's life offers new tricks. The Rock, Penguin, Crow, Golden Penguin, Llama, Parrot, Sloth, all Bees, Arctic Reindeer, Reindeer, Pet Rock, Scoob, Shadow Dragon, Frost Dragon, Elf Hedgehog (Hedgehog), Kangaroo, Turtle, and Monkey have special tricks that are different than other pets.

Neon Pets

As of July 13, 2019, it is possible to get Neon pets. In order to do so, players must place four fully-grown pets of the same type into the slots in the Neon Cave located under the main bridge. They will combine to create one neon pet, a special variation of the pet in which some of its parts glow a special color. All pets can be made neon, except non-tradable pets like the Scoob, Pumpkin (Pet), Pet Rock, and 2D Kitty.

To make a Neon pet rideable or flyable, players will either only need one rideable/flyable pet for it, or they can alternatively feed it a Ride-A-Pet Potion or Fly-A-Pet Potion after turning them into a Neon pet.

Mega Neon Pets

Mega Neon Pets are pets in Adopt Me! that were released on April 17, 2020. To get a Mega Neon pet, a player must place four fully-grown Neon pets of the same type into the slots in the Neon Cave located under the main bridge. These pets will then combine to create a Mega Neon Pet. These pets usually glow through the colors of the rainbow, but there are some exceptions. All pets (except the Scoob, Pet Rock, Pumpkin (Pet), and 2D Kitty) can become a Mega Neon.

Players only need 1 out of 16 pets to be fly and ride to create a fly ride Mega Neon pet. Players can also feed the pet a Ride-A-Pet Potion or a Fly-A-Pet Potion after the pet has been transformed.

Special Pet Items

Ride-A-Pet Potion

Main article: Ride-A-Pet Potion

Pets can be made permanently rideable if they are given a Ride-A-Pet Potion. This Ride-A-Pet Potion is available for 150; it can be bought through the 'Shop' menu or inside the Sky Castle. Players must buy a potion for every single pet that they want to make permanently rideable.

If a parent is riding a pet, the pet will grow bigger to accommodate the parent's size. If a baby is riding the pet, the pet will stay at its normal size.

Fly-A-Pet Potion

Main article: Fly-A-Pet Potion

Pets can be made permanently flyable (allowing the player to sit on the pet and fly it) if they are given a Fly-A-Pet Potion. This potion is available for 295; it can be bought through the 'Shop' menu or inside the Sky Castle. Players must buy a potion for every single pet that they want to make permanently flyable; both Fly-A-Pet and Ride-A-Pet Potions can be used on the same pet to make the pet flyable and rideable.

If a pet is in flying mode, it will grow white wings with a pink trail, unless its original state had wings (such as the Robin, Crow, Shadow Dragon, Parrot, etc.), which it will use as its "flying" wings. The Arctic Reindeer, Pet Rock, Reindeer, Ghost Bunny and Frost Fury pets do not need wings to fly and as such, don't gain any.

Golden Goldfish

The Golden Goldfish costs 195 and it is used to tame a King Penguin. Players have a 1 in 40 (2.5%) chance of obtaining a Diamond King Penguin, a 4 in 40 (10%) chance of obtaining a Golden King Penguin, and a 35 in 40 (87.5%) chance of taming a regular King Penguin.

Before July 14, 2022, players could obtain a Penguin or a Golden Penguin using the Golden Goldfish. Players had a 1 in 10 (10%) chance of taming a Golden Penguin; the other 9 out of 10 (90%) chance of taming a normal Penguin.

Honey

As with Golden Goldfish, players can use Honey to tame a Bee. It costs 169. Players have a 1 in 40 (2.5%) chance of taming a Queen Bee, a 4 in 40 (10%) chance of obtaining a King Bee and a 35 in 40 (87.5%) chance of obtaining a regular Bee.

Diamond Lavender

Main article: Diamond Lavender

Similar to the Golden Goldfish and Honey, players can use Diamond Lavender to tame a Ladybug. It costs 169. Players have a 1 in 40 (2.5%) chance of taming a Diamond Ladybug, a 4 in 40 (10%) chance of obtaining a Golden Ladybug and a 35 in 40 (87.5%) chance of obtaining a regular Ladybug.

Mud Ball

Players can use the Mud Ball to tame a Scarab. It costs 169 and was available for 36 hours during the Desert Weather Map Update, but the Desert Shop will return on the 15th of each month for 36 hours. Players have a 2.5% chance of taming a Giant Gold Scarab, a 37.5% chance of obtaining a Giant Blue Scarab, and a 60% chance of obtaining a regular Giant Black Scarab from a Mud Ball. According to its description, players must be in the Desert Shop to use it.

Golden Clam

Main article: Golden Clam

Similar to the Mud Ball, players can use Golden Clam to tame an Albatross. It costs 169 and was available for 36 hours during the Snow Weather Update, but the Snowy Igloo Shop will return on the 28th of each month for 36 hours. Players have a 2.5% chance of taming a Diamond Albatross, a 37.5% chance of obtaining a Golden Albatross, and a 60% chance of obtaining a regular Albatross from a Golden Clam. According to its description, players must be in the Snowy Igloo Shop to use it.

Leaf

Players could purchase a Leaf for 899 in the Butterfly Sanctuary. Players have a 60% chance of obtaining a Yellow Butterfly, a 37.5% chance of obtaining a Scarlet Butterfly, and a 2.5% chance of obtaining a Purple Butterfly from a Leaf.

Golden Leaf

Players could purchase a Golden Leaf for 199 in the Butterfly Sanctuary. Players have a 60% chance of obtaining an Orange Butterfly, a 37.5% chance of obtaining a Green Butterfly, and a 2.5% chance of obtaining a Diamond Butterfly from a Golden Leaf.

Golden Bone

Players can purchase a Golden Bone for 209 in the VIP Room. Players have a 77.5% chance of obtaining a Tan Chow-Chow, a 10% chance of obtaining a Chocolate Chow-Chow, a 10% chance of obtaining a Black Chow-Chow, and a 2.5% chance of obtaining a Golden Chow-Chow from a Golden Bone.

Golden Wheat

Similar to the Mud Ball and Golden Clam, players can use Golden Wheat to tame a Pheasant. It costs 169 and was available for 36 hours during the Fall Weather Update, but the Fall Shop will return on the 20th of each month for 36 hours. Players have a 60% chance of obtaining a Brown-Chested Pheasant, a 37.5% chance of obtaining a Green-Chested Pheasant, and a 2.5% chance of obtaining a Black-Chested Pheasant from a Golden Wheat.

Golden Plantain

Players can use the Golden Plantain to tame an Amazon Bird. It costs 169 and was available for 36 hours during the Rain Weather Update, but the Rain Pet Shop will return on the 23rd of each month for 36 hours. Players have an 87.5% chance of obtaining a Green Amazon, a 10% chance of obtaining a White Amazon, and a 2.5% chance of obtaining a Diamond Amazon from a Golden Plantain.

Golden Corn

Players can use the Golden Corn to tame a Hamster. It can be bought for 199 in the Pet Shop. Players have an 87.5% chance of obtaining a Hamster, a 10% chance of obtaining a Golden Hamster, and a 2.5% chance of obtaining a Diamond Hamster from a Golden Corn.

Golden Petunia

Players can use the Golden Petunia to tame a Hummingbird. It is included in the Pets Plus subscription when it is purchased or renewed every month for $2.99 USD. Players have an 87.5% chance of obtaining a Hummingbird, a 10% chance of obtaining a Golden Hummingbird, and a 2.5% chance of obtaining a Diamond Hummingbird from a Golden Petunia.

Golden Mistletoe

Players can use the Golden Mistletoe to tame a Mistletroll. It was purchasable for 199 during the Winter Festival (2024). Players have an 80% chance of obtaining a Merry Mistletroll, a 15% chance of obtaining a Naughty Mistletroll, and a 5% chance of obtaining a Royal Mistletroll from the Golden Mistletoe.

The Pets section in the backpack was released long before the Pets Update.
