Hugo

Hugo is a male tabby cat from an early draft of Zootopia.

Physical Appearance

Hugo is a domestic feline with a wide build. His eyes are green and his fur is orange with dark stripes. He wears a shirt resembling the one worn by Nick Wilde, along with blue pants. He also sports a name tag.

Personality

While not much of Hugo's character has been revealed, the way he is drawn in the concept art he appears in implies that he is quite expressive.

Development

Hugo was a bartender who was present in an early version of the film in which Nick was apparently a spy.^[1]
His character was later reworked into Officer Clawhauser in the final draft of the film.^[2]

Role in the Film

Hugo was to receive a visit from Nick at some point in the film.

Trivia

• Hugo is the only character in the film's drafts that is a member of a species that came to be via domestication by humans.
• The shirt Hugo wears bares a striking resemblance to the one Nick wears in the final draft of the film. This shirt appears to be the inspiration for Nick's.^[2]
